This is nothing new for Keyes, who told us that he uses his massive collection of credit cards to gain points, frequent flyer miles, and plenty of other member perks all the time. i dont even understand this. flying is fucking horrible. maybe his little ass fits in those tin tubes, but my god i would be miserable. plus he brags about all the things at airports and honestly i feel pretty depressed any time im at one. its a completely demoralizing experience, i dont care how nice the massage chairs look

Keyes has a few methods to procure his frequent flyer miles, including opening new credit cards that award miles or points, letting airlines know when there’s a problem with his flight, and not being afraid to get bumped if a flight is full.

He also uses Award Wallet and a detailed spreadsheet to keep organized so he never misuses his credit cards or loses track of his points and miles. In fact, since he started accruing cards, Keyes insists his credit score has actually increased just by virtue of handling his credit responsibly.

I've never known a card-churner who isn't a pompous dicksmack about it.

How is suffering through 21 flights a vacation?

I agree.

Traffic to airport, check in, security...etc....I guess flights that are less than an hour, fly with a carry on, I guess it would be easy....but still a pain in the ass.

I absolutly hate flying. Hate it hate it hate it. I enjoyed it as a young up and comer, flying around the country...but times were different then, No security, no bullshit. Heck, I remember when smoking was allowed on airplanes.
The older I get the less I like to fly.

The security ruined everything. And why the fuck isnt there a smoking section at least in the gate area? And how many terrorists have we stopped with the security? Dont they realize you can shove a bomb up your ass and the body scanners wont see it? Tsa completely ruined travel. And people feel safe... Give me a fuckin break

If you fly a lot then you get a GOES card and TSA is no big deal.

I haven't run into a line of more than a dozen people anywhere in the last six months.

Only person in line in Knoxville Friday night.

One of two people in line at Logan last month.

NEVER a line in KC. You can show up 15 minutes before departure.

8 people Thursday AM at O'hare.

A dozen in Denver last month.

O'Hare, you can have a hundred people in line or no line at all, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Worst security line I ever had was in Fort Lauderdale when the scanner broke and they couldn't get anyone there to fix it, which sent the line snaking all the way out of the building.

i just hate the part that once youre in, youre fuckin cattle and you cant leave. no smoking a cig, no buying cheap beer or food... no running to walgreens for a cheap item... no changing your mind. you dont want to get 'inside' too early because of all this, but you can't get in less than an hour early because they wont even let you in if you try. its just all a pain in the ass and a demoralizing experience.

I too really enjoyed it before 9/11. Flew a lot for work, played the double-miles game, did my best to rack up points and elite status, etc. Always had to be first on the plane and sit in the front, stuffed everything I had into the overhead.

Now most of my flying is for leisure with my wife. We get seats in the back (closer the bathroom) and try to check just one bag (need one for her makeup which cannot be carried on board). The rest of the stuff goes in carryons. But they always beg people at the gate to courtesy check bags because there is never enough room in the overheads. We gladly comply, thus saving $25 or $50 each way and skipping the hassle of finding room in the overhead.

Since we do fly for leisure we get there early and after security settle in at a bar for a few preflight cocktails :drunken: :drunken: -- thus the need to sit near the bathrooms on the plane.

The only problems I see in security lines are when they are not staffed properly, which is hard for me to understand. You have to have a reservation to fly so it's not like they don't know how many passengers will show up in any given hour.

So while flying is certainly not as enjoyable as it once was, it is necessary if you want to go anywhere so I try to make the best of it. And in fact yesterday actually managed to book free non-stop flights with AA points to FLA for a cruise next February.

I love to fly. I love the anticipation of flying when I get to the airport. I probably would hate it if I had to do it for work. I will be traveling to Poland in June and I am excited just thinking about the trip. Chicago to Frankfort, Frankfort to Vienna, Vienna to Krakow in one day with children...I like a challenge

I got very spoiled when my racing stable was dominating and the money was real easy. I used to have my pilot Patrick Mullady meet me at Palwaukee with a King Air or Citation jet and take me where I wanted to go. One time I dropped five or six grand to fly to Toronto. My friend Jerry told me that it was silly and one day I'd wish I had that cash. He was right.

A shady motherfucker I knew from the racing business, a Canadian named Bob Waxman, flew me and some other horsemen from DuQuoin, Illinois to Toronto in his Lear jet. It took not much more than an hour. A Lear is a hell of a plane.

I've looked at some restaurants as I need to be prepared for family friendly places. I'm happy to see that most of the items you find in Polish restaurants in Chicago are authentic. The kids won't have shock from the menus. Even if they don't like anything else, I can order them up a plate of pierogi and kielbasa.

I don't really like the real Polish Paczki's as they are filled with rose and fruit.

I met with an older southern guy in Knoxville on Thursday that nailed two stereotypes.

He was a racist, and he couldn't read or write.

I'm sure he could.

I don't feel like all southern white males are racists. The attitude that anyone north of the Mason-Dixon is not to be trusted, has been very prevalent in my experiences though. And that is regardless of skin color.

Definitely not. There are many intelligent people in the south.
