It seems like every time you look the Cub have runners on base. Like RPB said, "this teams lives on the bases." Wood looked good again. Hopefully this is the Travis from two seasons ago not last year's version. Let's keep it going tomorrow with a strong outing from "The Professor" and Bryant's first dinger to complete the sweep and make this a five game winning streak.

Bryant is a singles hitter and an RBI machine. We don't need no stinking home runs.

With Junior Lake jumping in on the fun too. Lots of different guys contributing now, rather than having all the pressure on Castro and Rizzo. The whole lineup is dangerous. better defense too and some of it drastically improved from the same guys who were not so good (especially Castro) before. Montero's work with the pitchers should not be overlooked either.

Don't forget, we also seem to have the Reds' number this year too. Can't wait to play the Brew Crew!

I hope it's that easy this year.

Nothing like seeing a frustrated Matt Garza on the mound. Is Bill Hall still on the team?

 Bill Hall, I wonder where a Bill Hall is at these days. I remember picking my brother up from the airport in 2002 for the all star game and seeing a young Bill Hall and Hee Seop Choi there. Thought they were the future of the game.

I always liked Bill Hall because of his name. Why? I don't know. I guess I just like effectiveness and simplicity of saying Bill Hall. It's concise and to the point. And who knows what would have become of Choi had Kerry Wood let him field that pop-up cleanly.

Ah who am I kidding. The guy had a long looping swing that MLB pitchers could exploit from here to eternity.

Why did Bill Hall go from Billy to Bill, that always bugged me? Billy Hall always kind of reminded me of the character name Billy Hoyle, I don't know why.

Better yet, why didn't Buckner go by Billy? Billy Buckner sounds so much cooler.

Was that in his Dodger days? My first memory of Bucker was him crying after the Cub traded him. And I don't bring that up to take a shot at him. (I'm comfortable with men showing their emotions) It just happens to be my first memory of him.

I'm not sure if this is all attributed to JoeMadd or not, but the fact that the Cubs are leading the league in stolen bases, up there in pitches per plate appearance, up there in walks and knocking people in with RISP (especially with 2 outs) is downright amazing. It's everything the team couldn't do the last few years.

I guess it might be also because the lineup is the lineup Cubs fans dreamed of the last few years that would "absolutely never happen." #SchwarberRuthIsComingToo

I think the patient approach happens without Maddon. Rizzo, Fowler, and Bryant are gonna be patient no matter what

I think the base running in general is Maddon. Going first to third consistently and general aggressiveness and it's been a huge part of their success

The 2 out thing is just a product of having a better lineup, not approach or anything. Just my opinion

Wait til they add Cueto and Zimmerman

Could be approach. Not trying to do too much. I could imagine many hitters recognizing that there are two outs, so if they don't drive in runs right now, runs are unlikely to be driven in. So they are thinking "pull and put it in the seats."

Instead, we're seeing opposite field line drive singles. Or "accepting the walk", as Maddon says. Next man up.

As Pat Hughes would point out, 50% of his name is the letter L.

I think tonight could be a really telling game for the Cubs.

1) Gerrit Cole is really good. (Pirates #1)
2) Kyle Hendricks has been average. (Cubs #4/#5)
3) The Cubs have won the first two games of the series and could let off the accelerator going into an off-day and a series against the Brewers

If the Cubs can win this game, and play strongly...I feel as if that would send a message to me that they are more for real than I thought.

I have to say the Pirates have shit the bed this series. Won 8 of 11 coming in and pitching strong but they have batting issue even with McCutcheon.
