I thought he said wood was a better pitcher not that he had a better career

Technically he said that Wood was better than Buehrle on the mound, but Buehrle took the ball more often. I can't even wrap my head around that statement. Taking the ball every 5th day is part of being a very good starting pitcher. We all knew what he meant though. "Wood was better than Buehrle on the mound" = Wood was a better pitcher than Buehrle. That is just flat out wrong.

This is 100% false. I never said that. This is not an opinion that I hold. Are you having trouble reading?

IMU, in the past few hours you have claimed that Wood's career was better than Buehrle's (0-1, strikeout looking),

Also did not claim this.

You're right frank.
I don't think it's excessive to say had he not been hurt his whole career he could have been better but it's pointless because he was hurt his whole career and didn't overall pitch better.
Not if you had both on your roster, both in their prime, both healthy, you probably want wood to take the ball in game 163 or game 7.
I think I would.

Buehrle 100% of the time.

Wood had the ball in a game 7, put 2 runs on the board himself with his own bat, and still gave away the lead.

Yeah. That happened.
I'd take him again.
Any given day he could have been 100% lights out.

Wood was twice the pitcher Buehrle ever has been. Buehrle is going to finish with a career orders of magntitude better than Wood's.

And Buehrle was on at least three days in his career 8)
(No hitter, perfect game, and a 1-hitter against the Rays in 2001 or 2002)

Pretty accurate.
Buehrle was just a horse. Could always count on him to take the ball and toss a couple hundred innings. Worth it's price in "stuff".

Totally. I don't really disagree with you by more than a short hair here man. I mean dude was fantastic. For a long time. That's why I agree Buehrle was inarguably the better career pitcher by a comfortable margin.

You don't think most above average pitchers have a few shutouts at least?

Golden Sombrero applies to a 4-strikeout game. If one is going to tread in the smartass waters, one should know their material first.

Love the thread..but gotta be an occasionally updated e.r.a. n whip. Its gotta be high 4 e.r.a. after today's shellacking.

Rongey is brutal on the play by play..he makes farmer sound like Milo Hamilton.
