E.r.a. absolutely matters..don't ridiculous.. Lester has to get better..it's almost impossible to get worse...he's dealing today n looks solid.

Two outs on the basepaths today

Not sure about first one, but Braun made a nice throw on this last one, no problem with Castro trying to take 3rd

Seven strong innings so far from Lester. Hopefully we get a run or two here to alleviate some pressure.

Both outs at 3rd were stupid, imo. Fowler running on a gold glove winner and Castro trying to take 3rd when Braun has the ball already while Castro is just rounding second base.

And now Maddon is taking out Lester when he could of pitch hit him last inning.

It would be so Cubs to lose this game.

Bryant is going to get Rizzo hurt one of these days with those sailing throws over to 1st.

And damn, how good was that Feldman trade with Baltimore?

Lester only has 90 pitches. WTF is Maddon's issue with pitchers pitching. He's such a fucking pussy.

I'd have sent him out for the 8th.

But, it looks like a good decision with one out left...

Be honest...

EDIT: It might go below 5 today! (but ERA doesnt matter)

I want him to pitch like he's being paid to pitch. A 6 plus ERA and no wins through 4 starts doesn't get it done for me. In happy the Cub won today and he pitched well but then he should pitch well against these guys . It's what I expect .

His pay doesn't matter.

Whatever, 2 solid starts in a row. Go Cubs!

It was nice to get the win and yes, Lester did throw 7 shutout innings.. But he was in trouble a couple times and was facing a Brewers squad that had 4 starters out of the lineup. So lets not give him more credit than he is due. Still, it was good to see Lester get his first win and Russell hit his first homer. With the true Ace pitching today, hopefully they can secure another series win and then try for a sweep. but when these 2 teams play each other, you never know.

What do you consider trouble?

3 hits, 1 walk, 1 hbp

5 baserunners in 7 IP

Only one leadoff man got on through those 7 innings.

In the second inning, the Brewers had bases loaded but there were two outs already when the second two runners got on. Not ideal, but it wasn't like he walked the bases loaded to start an inning. Already, 3 of those 5 baserunners were now stranded.

The third inning is the only time the leadoff hitter got on, via HBP. 1-2-3 after that. four stranded, no issues.

One more hit in the fourth, and then 10 straight retired.

If this was 'trouble a couple of times', let me have more trouble please.

The inning he loaded the bases and had to get the opposing pitcher to end the inning comes to mind. Yes, there were a couple innings only that there was real concern, but again....it was a depleted Brewers lineup. But certainly< I hope this is an indicator that the struggles of the early season are behind him now.

Cubs can't hit the guy. They struggle to even to put the ball in play when he's on the mound.
