I like the Cubs. Maddon is better than Matheny.

Fortunately, I'll be out of town so should be able to catch all four tilts on Mlb.tv.

I'm going full Darkside and gonna post this in every thread.

wonger 2HR 7RBI 3SB

el gallo negro something something whatever gets 7+ K with 2ER or less.

travis wood wakes up and goes "oh shit i'm travis wood" --- 4+ ER ensues.

st louis ranked higher on the "desirable places to live" list after the series.

lester pitches heroically but the bullpen blows it late.

on the plus side "dj riz" gets a viral sensation going with "ain't nuthin but a cub thang" #WeAreFun

^ :drunken:

I'll be happy with a split... although taking 3 of 4 would be a nice early throat-punch. I can see the Coob taking the Lyons debut, and either the Arrieta or Lester games

Split. Bryant still doesn't hit a HR. Lester does.

The odd thing is even though the Cubs have been shitty the past 3 years we've probably played them better than the other 3 NL Central teams in St. Louis

Will gladly settle for a split. Hoping Bryant gets his first HR out of the way...

I'd settle for a fly ball out right now.

I don't want him focusing on home runs. I want him to lay off the high inside fastballs.

He is 6'5" with a good swing. He will hit a lot of home runs. If he makes contact.

They pitched him away, he dominated it. Now he needs to adjust to high fastballs.

He will adjust. He needs to lay off on not only high fastballs, but the down and in stuff. I know he sometimes can miraculously inside out one for a double but when a good lefty buries it, its not a good pitch to swing at.

The Cardinals have been the best team in Baseball so far this season, so a split on the road would be very easy to accept. The Cardinals have done an amazing job of drafting and developing talent, so they continue to prosper. It is a model any team should hope to emulate. Fortunately, the Cubs can draft and develop talent, as well as pay for the top free agent now and then, when all the revenue streams are producing major market funds. But this team will continue to provide great competition, even in years the Cubs are winning Championships. The best rivalry in Baseball.

The Astros have been the best team in Baseball so far this season.

It's not a rivalry when one team is always winning.

Ummmmm...NO! The Cardinals are 18-6, while the Astros are 18-7. Plus, while the Astros have gotten great starting pitching (which is the greatest determining factor of success), the Cardinals have the better all-around team.

I expect both teams to be amongst the top squads over the next several years and the rivalry will be better than ever.

You might want to look up what Marisnick, Altuve, Gattis, Springer, and Rasmus have been doing over the last 20 days.

Additionally, look at Cardinals' strength of schedule. Both the Cardinals and Astros are near the bottom, but Cardinals are second to last in having the weakest schedule through Sunday.

Want to bet which team winds up with the better record? Keep in mind, Wainwright is out for the year.

I'll bet. I'm a Card fan but I figured it would be between the Cubs and Pirates this year for the Central. I sure didn't figure we would start out this hot (kinda like the Brews last year :()

I'm exited as hell. I don't remember the Cards AND the Cubs both being good at the same time. I'd like for the old, true rivalry to return.

CUBBIES1. Dexter Fowler CF
2. Chris Coghlan LF
3. Anthony Rizzo 1B
4. Kris Bryant 3B
5. Miguel Montero C
6. Starlin Castro SS
7. Chris Denorfia RF
8. Travis Wood P
9. Addison Russell 2B

[b]CARDS
1. Jon Jay (L) CF
2. Matt Carpenter (L) 3B
3. Matt Holliday (R) LF
4. Jhonny Peralta (R) SS
5. Mark Reynolds (R) 1B
6. Jason Heyward (L) RF
7. Kolten Wong (L) 2B
8. Tony Cruz (R) C
