The weirdness of his updates: Nobody gets hired if they do that shit. Nobody lasts in any other place if they do that shit. Why he's allowed amazes me. Like I've said, he's been there so long, getting too old to produce, so they give him other shit to shut him up from his crying.

Problem with drinky is he's always trying to be funny. He thinks the updates are a stage for him to do comedy. Sometimes he writes it. And that's bad. Sometimes he tries to talk to the hosts and says the first stupid thing that comes into his boozed out brain. And that's worse. Never funny. But he doesn't realize it. In his mind, he's hilarious. And nobody at that station tells him otherwise.

Flipped over to Der Schnore on the ride home yesterday and His Aaahness was doing an update and informing the audience of the upcoming MNF game featuring Washington. Except he said it like Wershington. More than once. His tone of voice was dripping with smarm and his lack of awareness about the failing of his comedic ad lib was irritating. Kinda approaching a Spiegel-like level of obnoxiousness.

I always find it funny and ironic that drinky is Bernstein's.

Meaning you often hear Bernstein ripping on broadcasters. Like this week he said some new guy doing NFL games for FOX just isn't broadcasting worthy. He said he just can't do it. Just not good. Says the same thing about Erin Andrews, "Nice lady, just isn't very good at, ya know, talking and broadcasting".

So naturally he thinks the same thing of his dim witted, vapid, stuttering producer. It goes without saying cuz he just can't do this broadcasting thing.

Came here today hoping to find this thread at the ready. Glad I'm not the only one who has to PTFB any time I hear Drinky's comedy bits, aka, updates.

What the hell is up with his updates? They take 5-10 minutes, which is ridiculous. Then he throws in a stupid ass comment for every story. and 95% of them aren't funny. He is making Kerry Sayers updates seem good lately.

I'm sure he thinks he's being entertaining and funny, and obviously, nobody is telling him not to do that. Maybe he's just bored with his normal producing job, or this is an attempt to showcase/differentiate himself (like his CBS Sports Minutes that were funny at first, but became old and unfunny quickly, but went on way too long).

I've only heard 1 or 2 updates, and it's hard to believe anyone thinks that his updates are clever, funny, or anything but stupid.

I'm shocked nobody over there says anything to him. Just out of kindness to save him from himself. Cuz he embarrasses himself daily.

Yeah, he really thinks he's a great comedian and thinks he's entertaining. It's one thing when he writes his bad jokes and weird/stupid commentary for the updates. What's worse is the conversations he gets into with B&B. He's the type that can never just have a normal conversation. He thinks he's always on that stand up stage, so he's always looking for the wise crack or what he thinks is a clever comment. But, like we all know, he's a half wit, so his conversations with B&B are just pure gibberish. Literally. You don't know what he's talking about or saying during his B&B conversations.

Why are you shocked? Mitch avoids confrontation. He sets the example for his underlings. I bet everyone tells each other what a great job they are all doing in person. I could also believe they all secretly resent each other and shit talk about their co-workers to anyone who will listen.

I know. I've said similar things about Mitch. I'm talking about his co workers. The fellow update guys. Like Ranger, Rodey, Grote. I mean if they were really his friends they'd tell him he's making an ass of himself. Or how about his radio dads, B&B. Shouldn't they give him some advice if they cared about him. I guess it shows that nobody there is his friend. Cuz you know off the air his co workers talk about what a dumb ass he is. They must. Cuz he is. It's clear if you listen to him.

Or how about his friends and family? His buddies don't let him know? Hell, his wife has to have caught some of his act on the air. She never asks "Why do you behave like a dumb ass on the air?" Maybe I'm wrong. I guess she doesn't.

I just find it weird that drinky has never been informed on how stupid he sounds by co workers, friends or family.

Like I said, if anybody cared about drinky they'd inform him to save him from himself.

Besides the HORRIBLE attempts at jokes today, why did drinky not mention that Grote got the Cubs pre and post job? Just heard the 5:00 and 5:30, no mention. I'm assuming he didn't mention it earlier. That's news people would want to hear. It's a Big job on their sister station and Grote is one of their own. You'd think he'd put it in the update. Maybe even say "Congrats".

Is drinky not reporting it cuz he's pissed that he didn't get it? Wouldn't put that sort of petty behavior past him.

If he is pissed he has no one to blame but himself...I don't even think he was able to cover the Cubs for a full season he was so IN OVER HIS HEAD. Drinky DEFINES incompetent!
