I don't think the 9th round would be considered late in the draft, doesn't it go like 60 rounds?

No....they are not lucky. They are good at their jobs.

Picking Carpenter in the 9th Round was not being good at their jobs. Maybe developing his talent was, but clearly they found a steal that late in the draft.

But yes as an organization they are damn good.

They are and have been one of the best organizations in sports for a long time.

Theo Epstein has yet to have a player develop through his system into a consistent MLer and here are the Cubs fans trying to be all magnanimous to the St Louis Cardinals. "Them Cardinals, damn good organization. Maybe they'd like to come over and talk shop with us here at our organization."

Cubs are clown shoes compared to the Cardinals. St Louis would never tank a half decade of baseball to load up with guys who strikeout in 30%+ of their AB's.

Never would've thought Russell would hit 2 homers (and possibly more) before Bryant hits even one.

Did you ever imagine he'd strikeout 40% of the time too?

He still looks overmatched most of the time to me.

He is a big guy. I think he is going to be one of those SS who matures into a 20 HR player

Cardinals have consistently developed talent which means they have never had to "tank". Cubs consistently drafted shitty as long as I can remember. It also has resulted in the Cards not giving out a lot of bad contracts, where the cubs had to spend to cover their bad drafts.

This started long before Theo arrived.

Big test tonight for Lester. The kind of games hes supposed to win. Stop a losing streak against the division leaders and number 1 rival. Let's see what ya got Jonny boy.

Good thing for him these games count less than July games.

These are the classic road grays.

I actually like the road grays they introduced last season. With CUBS on the front.

Same, IMU. Only seen them once so far this season, in Colorado. I like these ones too, they're classic. I can do without the one with all blue numbers and letters.

Lester not only needs a designated hitter but also a designated fielder.

Yeah, I've not seen anything quite like that, except in one of my son's little league games. Just bad.

As long as they don't wear those godawful blue tops, I'm happy.

Is it just me, or does Molina look like he has lost 20-30 pounds to anyone else?
