I used to follow the Dead with some hippie girls who were vegetarians. They thought they were eating healthy because they didn't eat meat. If everything is fried and/or covered in ranch dressing, it ceases to be healthy.

I'll have to look into that. Yeah I heard it's a great diet and very healthy.

well, the thing is they allow customization...so it can be as healthy or unhealthy as you want, within reason
i generally get brown rice, black beans, protein, fajita veggies and 3 of the salsas....that's not too bad for a fast food/fast casual meal.

i agree.

but say you go to mcd's and order a big mac, med fries and diet coke.
cal: 860
fat: 43g
sat fat: 12g
trans fat: 1g
cholesterol:85mg
sodium: 1180mg

then chipotle you get a burrito, brown rice, black beans, chicken, fresh salsa, cheese
cal: 920
fat: 32.5g
sat fat: 9g
trans fat: 0g
cholesterol: 155mg
sodium: 1825mg

you can drop 300 calories easy by getting a bowl, no cheese/sour cream etc

but if you gave the two choices i bet most people would say chipotle item is far healthier.

the bowls are great...far superior to the burrito in my opinion

That reminds me of the Hidden Valley Ranch commercial where they talk about this "magical" place where kids eat their vegetables...which are covered in ranch dressing.

Yes, if you drown vegetables in ranch dressing, kids will probably eat them.

correct. bowl is my only play. you can save the bowl for later if the employee was generous when dispensing ingredients or if you overestimated your hunger.

I've never eaten at Chipotle. Don't see the point in a town with taquerias on every corner.

I will eat at McD's tho. Avoid the fries and soft drinks and grab a couple of McDouble's and a bottle of water and you have a filling, quick lunch when you're not in the mood or don't have the time to eat properly.

Can you say egg mcmuffin?

Egga muffin.

I haven't eaten an egga muffin in a long time. Not a fan. Breakfast burritos and hash browns are the only breakfast items I eat from McD's.

its hard enough for supermarkets to do it, but their turnover is much higher and consistent... when you eat that meat from a grocery store its usually the freshest youre going to find... aside from going right to a meat slaughterhouse or a farmers market

but fast food places must warehouse hoards of their shit in regional buildings, then deliver it weekly to their stores. it adds another layer of stale, which is when they start adding preservatives to make the stuff seem as fresh as you get in the grocery store. problem is, those preservatives prevent bacteria from eating that food.... and your gut uses bacteria to digest that food. its only logical that the preservatives will prevent your body from properly digesting that food, and it makes a MUCH bigger difference than most people realize.

This is from mcdonalds.com regarding preservatives:

"No, our burgers are made using only 100% USDA-inspected beef. There are no fillers, extenders, preservatives or so-called 'pink slime' in our beef."

So either we believe that or the Ike South quote above. You guys are lucky to have as many alternatives as you do. The last time I went to one of our 2 Panera Bread places, there wasn't a single parking spot open -- on a weekday. When I finally got in after killing some time nearby, the wait to get some food was interminably long.
