Yes, because we will be #1 in MLB.

Are you going to be ok, when the Sox are sellers at the trade deadline?

I will be if it is John Danks

Almora was the guy everyone kept saying wait until it clicks. It's clicking.

.306/.343/.355

Nice to see him take some walks. He's a guy commentators said could put a bat to anything which became a detriment.

Perhaps a little more power develops later?

Waaaaay too early to pass judgement on Baez. I'm willing to give that type of power multiple chances to fail. Maybe just maybe, you let him play SS to keep his mind occupied and not dwelling on his plate approach. It's a crazy theory, but who knows? Then again, if you move Castro off of SS his mind might wander too much.

In a perfect world, you have Baez, Russell and Castro in the infield with Bryant in LF. Then you tell the Phillies you'll take all of Cole Hamels contract off their hands, though you probably have to take Papelbon as well. It's fun to play fantasy GM.

McKinney is batting .340/.432/.544 in Myrtle Beach. Time to bump him up to Tennessee. He has nothing left to prove in High-A.

Baez took two walks yesterday.

My guy Caratini has been pretty bad with the stick in Myrtle Beach. Oh well.

I am OK with Baez taking walks, as it should be seen as progress towards getting a better eye. So its not the walks I want, its just the ability to not swing wildly at pitches. Players are going to K, I am OK with that, but most of his K's were these crazy uncorked happy Gilmore like whiffs.

If the Cubs do their own network, it would be really cool to see these games, even if in replay during the day.

Disagree, you can sometimes tell a guy just don't have it...I've never liked him ...he is a scrub . You don't have to wait til a guy is 29 to definitively say he's a bum.

He's 22

I agree sometimes you know but 22 is pretty young to write off anyone. We'll see.

I agree, he has alot of baseball left to learn. He was being praised for hitting HR in the minors, so offcourse a young kid is going to try and do the same in the majors. He is learning you can't swing "like happy gilmore" in the majors because the pitchers are way too good.

They are probably telling him if he wants to make it back to the majors, he is going to have to control his swings. Baez is not done yet!

He's been noticably better in Iowa of late. Taking walks and hitting balls to opposite field.

He's young.

I do still think they should have traded him last year when he was at crazy value.

He will benefit from not being 'the' guy in a lineup. Bat him 6th or 7th and it'll look better.

Give him the entire year in Iowa. No pressure.

He would still be an appropriately aged prospect if they let him develop for another three years. You don't give up on that kind of power.

You just wait until Cueto is a free agent and give him the John Lester treatment.

2-4 HR and single for Baez. His two outs were strike outs though.

I'm resigned that he'll be Mark Reynolds or Pedro Alvarez. Just drive you nuts.

Schwarber: .333/.448/.657 with 9 HRs. 24 BBs and only 29 SOs. He swatted two dongs yesterday.

McKinney has started well in Double-A.

Good stuff

from bleachernation:

I think Mark Zagunis would like to remind the Cubs that he is ready for his ticket to Tennessee. The outfielder has now hit safely in eleven straight and in nineteen of his last twenty one games. His on base streak sits at twenty one. On April 26, the day before this on base streak began, Zagunis had a line of .234/.393/.277. His line now reads .328/.453/.453. I suspect that it will not be long now before the Cubs find a way to get him to Double A.

bring him up. if he proves himself in double-A he can be a nice piece in a package for starting pitching or he can expose himself. either way let's find out.

In May, Baez has played in 23 games and in 97 plate appearances he's batting:

.321/.402/.536

That's really good!

Overall his K% is under 25% for the season.

Cautiously optimistic.
