For the dozen or so that still watch:

Almost DBOTW material; I mean, hey, if you want to leave because after all this time you're just sick of it, fine, but because of a dispute over your share of merch? GTFO.

Oh, and the voices are being recast, so I guess that's a FU back at Shearer.

Darn. I was hoping they would have Fat Tony whack Mr. Burns and take over his fortune... No offense to Dr. Kenneth Noisewater - my Illinois Valley guy!

Seriously, he's passing up a ton of "D'oh!" (see what I did there?) for probably the easiest job in show biz. Wow.

I think he's an arrogant blowhard but according to celebrity net worth Shearer is worth 65 million. He doesn't need the cash for sure.

Didn't think he was that old (71).

I think his voice(s) will be tough to replace.

Doesn't he play like 20 characters on that show?

Burns, Flanders, and Skinner are the main ones.

May not be a done deal, yet...now reports are this is a negotiating ploy.

Seems to me he's done this before; maybe I'll Google it if I get around to it.

The guy is 71. He isn't getting any other work. I'd call his bluff.

You gotta wonder if they would even have to recast the voices?

With today's technology and the 25+ years of all the Shearer voices/words saved in audio banks, I would think they could cut & paste any future dialogue that the characters might say.

The best audio technology available would probably equalize/auto tune any variation of tone and it would sound darn near seamless? Just a thought...

Any audio gods have an opinion?

I would think between what you described and the dozens of more than passable Mr Burns voice imitators out there they could cobble together the dialogue no problem. Same with the other voices he did.

I think they should just kill the whole show. I'd have said that even if Harry Shearer weren't leaving.

He's back. Entertainment Weekly reporting that Harry just signed the four year contract similar to the other cast members netting him 300k per episode. Excellent!

22 episodes = $6.6 M

Great gig for just doing voice work.
