Bernstein already dismissed this as being along the lines of throwing away the "I'm sorry you're dead or whatever" cards left for Ron Santo. Only problem with that is that the Cubs presumably sold these bricks with the idea that they'd stay there. Personally, I think buying a brick with "I LOVE YOU GRANDMA GO CUBS" for people to walk and puke all over is mawkish and self-indulgent, but I'm not the one who sold the schmaltz. The Cubs stepped in it again.

I don't know, Sir.

I'm sure the Sun-Times will be all over this one! Stupid Griswolds need to get out of the way of progress and monetization.

Probably not a good policy to charge up to $160 for these perpetual mementos and then shit can them in a few years.

Don't worry, Really Smart People are going to find a loophole. If they can't, why do you even care? You had to know this was a possibility.

I love the WE DON'T KNOW in all caps.

Good stuff.

How about we wait and see what the Cubs do with the bricks until we comment?

We already know what they did with them. They had them hauled off to a landfill.

If somebody paid $160 for these bricks they certainly deserve a refund. I'm sure Ricketts will give it to them. Hell, he dropped 20k on Ernie's funeral. This will be less than that.

I'm going to guess that if bernstein shelled out 160 balloons for a brick with his kid's name on it and they dug it up and tossed it out a few years later, he'd be on the phone complaining about it.

People probably don't want the money. They want the bricks. That's why they bought the fuckers.

So youre saying Ernie Banks' corpse is probably in a dumpster somewhere in Northwest Indiana.

They sent each Brickowner a letter, telling them they are in storage and will be reset once contruction is completed, thus they arent damaged.

Plus, if you bought a brick, they sent you a matching brick.

I am a Brick owner and I will admit I will not like it if my place is moved from where I was, which was right in front of the main entrance to Wrigley PARK!

You bought a brick? Bernstein thinks you're a meatball for doing so. Not that you care. Just letting you know since you don't listen.

Well, I don't think it's stupid. I'm sure most do it for somebody that's passed away. That's not a meatball!!!! That's nice. Screw Bernstein!!!!

Soooo....

Quote:
To his credit, he keeps digging and actually quotes the Cubs’ Julian Green from a March press conference where he read a number of prepared statements, including this bit about the pavers:

“Our plan is to replace and relocate all personalized pavers following the 2015 season. We anticipate the new pavers will be in place by Opening Day 2016. The original pavers will not be available for distribution and we will communicate specific locations once the design lays are finalized with those personalized pavers.”

Quote:
Yet I reached out to the Cubs and they provided me the letter they sent the people who bought the bricks. It really wasn’t that hard. Shockingly, some of the language contained in it is almost exactly what was given the press in that March presser (emphasis is mine):

Dear <paver owner>,

Thank you for your continued support of the Chicago Cubs. As a follow up to the letter you received in October, we would like to provide you with an update on the status of your Wrigley Field personalized paver.

As you know, work continues in and around the ballpark to restore and expand the Friendly Confines. Due to ongoing construction, your paver was removed and will not be accessible during the 2015 season.

While working with our design team, it was determined the best long-term location for the pavers is outside the Budweiser Bleachers on Sheffield and Waveland avenues. Our plan is to replace and relocate all the personalized pavers following the 2015 season. We anticipate the new pavers will be in place by Opening Day 2016. Original pavers will not be available for distribution. We will communicate specific locations once design layouts are finalized.

If you have any questions, please contact Cubs Fan Services at 773-388-8270.

We appreciate your continued support and patience as we work to restore and expand Wrigley Field to ensure it remains a friendly, enjoyable place to watch a Cubs game for years to come.

It's clear the original wouldn't be available for distribution b/c they were dug out and tossed! Obviously new ones would be made for the relocation. People get so oddly obsessed with anything the Cubs do

The stupid part was them not saying, they are just going to replace them. Picking them up, storing them, cost more than just getting a new brick.

And once again more over reaction from the few remaining trolls of The CSFMB Illuminati who now once again leave the room with their tails between their legs after another beating ...when will they ever learn?

I dont care where my brick is, I just assume they will get new bricks made.

I am actually pissed about the relocation. Thats the damn story!

I did enjoy having my name right in front of the friendly confines..."Forever" Allegedly!
