Simple. I really cant stand hearing the tones of bernsteins voice.

Yeah, we all know Terry cashed it in years ago, but when he did speak, it was funny. In general, once again the Score is background for me usually. Example, Spiegs and Goff had Doc on talking Hockey...and I dont remember one thing he said, did really listen.

But when tranny comes in and Bernstein pops up....I go and turn the radio off.

So, if these people meters are so great, do they register me turning off my radio and if so....how? Yes. a real question

That's a great idea, but I'm guessing that Nielsen Radio (still Arbitron to me, dammit) wants to control the demographic sampling. They came under fire for both underrepresenting and overrepresenting The Community back in the diary days (a system even more flawed than PPMs), leading to books where virtually no one and everyone in Chicago, respectively, was listening to WGCI.

Do they pay these people to listen and report? I would assume it is not much

They pay a very nominal fee, yes. I think they'd throw you about three or four bucks for a diary. Not sure what PPMs pay. It can't be much more.

Poor Lil Danny saddened by the fact his big black studs ™ being hurt are hindering his enjoyment of the NBA final four. Turning into hockey vs basketball again too.

Stacey King's been talking shit about Thibodeau the entire season. Dan must have only seen a few games out of the 82 this year.

Any program director with a spine stronger than spaghetti would take note of such market research saying that yes, Chicago Blackhawks playoff talk is more compelling to a Chicago audience than lamenting John Wall's broken wrist or breaking down an oral history of Kevin Garnett. OH MY GOD WHY DO YOU EVEN CARE IT'S MY SHOW I'LL DO WHAT I WANT

That was essentially their response .

Yeah, it's always a weird mix of "Call in to talk about it if you want to so bad!" and "it's our show we do what we want!", which, of course, are incompatible. This is evident when hockey calls are dismissed with "yes, it is important that the Hawks win because winning is good. I agree. The Hawks should try to win" or something. It's a game you can't win.

Did Zawaski go off on them or another show about lack of coverage? They referenced something to that effect.

Jay said on Spiegs and Goff this morning don't joke about people who love hockey and want more hockey talk.

Tuned in a little after 2:00 to hear Dan doing a dramatic reading of a damning letter regarding the U of I. They go to a call and it's a guy who wants to talk hockey and wants to know how the 2015 Anaheim Ducks compare to the Flyers the Hawks beat to win the Cup.

Silence from Dan and Terry until they both say "I don't know" and start giggling.

Now Dan is getting what he really wants...texts complaining about their negative coverage of the U of I.

I can't remember the "welcome" payment. It was 50-100 bucks I think. Then it was 15 or 17 bucks a month and you were entered into monthly drawings to win money. Those varied. 500, 1000, 5000, I think even 10000 or 15000 but those were less frequent.

In fairness, the guy screwed up and said "those Flyers with Eric Lindros" when he almost certainly meant Chris Pronger. All shithead concussed Philadelphia Flyers look alike.

To answer the poor guy's question, there aren't really many similarities between those Flyers and these Ducks. Anaheim has a stud in net; the Flyers had Michael Leighton. If anything, Philadelphia's defense from that year is more like ours than Anaheim's, with a dynamite first pairing (Pronger/Timonen, Keith/Seabrook), a terrific second (Coburn/Carle, Oduya/Hjalmarsson), and a nuclear disaster of a third (I don't even remember. Ryan Parent?). Richards and Carter are similar to Getzlaf and Perry in some blurry way, I guess, and they both like to push you around, but the Ducks have more in common with the Kings and Jets than a team from five years ago, predating the second Dead Puck Era.

This "sharp criticism and awareness" that wasn't there from Stacey King during Bulls' broadcasts this season means Dan didn't watch many games.

not to mention the flyers are in the east...and the round they were playing in was the...final round, which raises the stakes even more. the biggest worst thing is what you mentioned, the goalie. leighton was a glorified 4th stringer and if the flyers had even a good goalie, i still think the flyers could've won that series. in the 20 years i've been watching the flyers, that was the best chance they'd had at getting a cup since the broad street bully days.

They could not have been watching because Stacey King definitely took his shots during the season. Some of them were documented by me on this board. At first I thought he was merely shilling for management. He surely was shilling but he also was a teammate of Paxson, a factor which can't be ignored. The first indicator that Thibs was on the outs for me actually came from listening to Stacey King. Once he broke bad on Thibs I knew he was done.

While I agree they are correct that they do not force people to listen and can change the dial I can't believe it. In this day and age of profit squeezing for their PD or Higher to allow the treatment and to tell people to tune out is surprising.

Must be rough for you guys finding out the first time that Dan and Terry give minimal fucks about the Blackhawks and know even less about hockey/the league in general.
