As a person whose posts have often times been compared to yours, in length not content, I find it interesting that the short posts advocates often spend most of it discussing themselves. LTG, you're all good in my book man. you're one of the posters i enjoy here because you'll actually take time to sit down and elaborate on your thoughts, whereas the preferred method of communication here is a little IRC/chat/twitter-style 1-2 lines of circlejerky "wit" and commiseration in the group... and hey, i've taken countless opportunities to tell everyone that i come from an older school of computer messageboarding that predates the rise of the internet and goes back to dialup BBSes, where you could only have one user on at a time (and you had a strict limit of 30-90mins/day cuz if you had one shitty poster sitting there all day nobody else could call up and post) and because of the nature of the setup, you basically took your time to write proper messages in reply to the previous messages because you wanted to get your points across and you weren't going to call back for at least hours if not days sometimes and then when you'd check the boards you'd see something to respond to and blam blam blam, off you went.
now with the internet you can have 50-200 people on the board at the same time, and as such the messageboard experience has evolved to fundamentally emulate chat because nowadays you can post something, wait a minute, get a reply from someone and then reply to that, and then boom 2-3 other people reply in under 5 minutes and you're off to the page 5-10/+ zone. and hey, in the past i've definitely spoke of my rosy colored glasses preferring the oldschool style cuz it explains why i am the way i am, but progress is what it is and things don't stay the same forever and once i got over my personal proclivities re: sini-fuel aka panther's spot-on summation of my posting steez ([TLDR BABBLE].... FUCK THE HATERS CUZ THEY CAN BEHOLD MY MASTERPIECE!) i realized if everyone's basically posting a certain way there comes a point where it's like you're actively trying to stick out like a sore wang because no matter how much better the good old ways were in terms propagating actual quality content (could you imagine having an $100 internet bill because you spent that much time on msgboards? i think i once hit a $120 phone bill in large part cuz i used to have my quality rotation of local-long-distance msgboard-intensive dialup BBSes like who didnt wanna talk to the inevitably fat gothy chick who ran the silver pentacle? she had shit to say!) --- it's c'est la vie AS THE FRENCH IN FRANCE WOULD SAY!
AHEM, so yeah LTG much ado about nothing i suppose.... but i reckon people like you and me are relics of a bygone era, and while i've come to embrace the proclivities/paradigm/basic-syntax of contemporary msgboarding, still man, sometimes i wanna bust out some actual fleshed out thoughts without some fucking pudwhack like darkside showing up like HURRR DURRR YOU TALK TOO MUCH AND NOBODY WANTS TO READ YOUR BULLSHIT! THAT'S RIGHT EVERYONE I'M DARKSIDE AND I FIGHT FOR THE GOOD OF THE CSFMB! biggie can tell me whatever he wants and i'll take heed of it, but not captain lakeless (cuz it sure aint lakemore seeing as it's pretty much just a lake..... i assume/hope?) aka ernie, aka first ballot CSFMB HOF because i mean dont you read people's signatures here?
and yes, if i had condensed that last part to "YEAH BUT DARKSIDE SUCKS" and forced the meme all over the board some of you might actually like me. c'est la vie. when i'm firmly established doing my own thing in a few years time we'll have sinifest somewhere for the people who don't wanna go out to bumblefuck and fight off drunken latent/homoeroticism with a bunch of pudgy guys in mandals.
