May I sit Shotgun on the bandwagon?

I don't know where this team is going,but so far it's been one heck of a ride. I think one big puzzle piece that has been missing is Neil Ramirez. Hopefully,he can come back strong. It looks like Rizzo is putting up some Lou Gehrig-type numbers. It's amazing,I never dreamed he would perform like this. Still,big hole in LF but the Cubs might have a somewhat decent answer in the injured Chris Denorfia who was doing pretty good until his injury.


Oh yeah and the Sox Suck!

Jimmy has carte Blanche. Yes, he was against everything...as many older Cub fans were. We have all heard the rebuilding plan from every team in every sport....even the great white sox tried it!

The skepticism is more than warranted. Saying it and doing it are 2 different things.

Ryno did get screwed and seems to be holding his own in Philly given their shitty record/bloated payroll, etc. He seems like he has navigated his way through that tough situation as least in the short term.

As to now, with Maddon, we got damn lucky he became available, and to everyone's credit who was involved, they stepped up and got him.

I remember many times having to explain why the rebuild they were working on, was the right way to handle things and you were dead set against it. Now, when things are going well (and likely to get a lot better still) you want a seat on the bandwagon? Wow.....okay. But only because you asked nicely.

They still got work to do....but happy with the direction.

Not everyone has tried it. The Cubs never did it before in my lifetime. It was always a patchwork job with 2nd rate players (except for Andre Dawson, who signed a blank check for the Cubs to fill in, to play here).....until Hendry took over and they opened up the vault and signed guys to big contracts as well as taking on guys like Ramirez and Lee who were ready to cash in and played for teams (Brewers and Marlins) unwilling to pay top dollar to them. But they never did a complete rebuild from the minor leagues, until Theo and Jed came along. Sure, Dallas Green began a rebuilding of the farm system, but he was never able to see it through. The Sox have never done a complete rebuild that I remember either. They have always used trades and free agency to build teams more than through the draft. Some feel their fans would not be patient enough to try to rebuild from the farm system. that losing without the appearance of trying to win, would not be tolerated. I understood what the Cubs were doing and applauded the direction. It made sense to me and now we are seeing it all starting to pay off. Once the ballpark is completed and all the revenue streams are pumping cash into the team, the options for adding top tier free agents when a hole needs to be filled, will be there too. It's all coming together very nicely.
