CBS has just released a lengthy first look trailer for their upcoming DC Comics series, “Supergirl”! You can check out the full video, running nearly seven minutes long, in the player below!

Hailing from Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions (who also produce the hit DC Comics series “Arrow” and “The Flash” for The CW), “Supergirl” is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

The pilot episode of “Supergirl” was written by Ali Adler (“No Ordinary Family”) and Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash”). They will also executive produce along with Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV.

I turned it off after a few minutes and now I wished I never watched it cause they gave away a lot of spoilers from what I assume are the first few episodes. But, damn, that looks really good. I advise others to skip the preview and just watch the show when it comes out unless you don't mind having lots of stuff spoiled.

I don't like the fact that all these DC shows are on different networks. makes the possibility of cross overs impossible (with the exception of the two CW shows).

I wonder if her cousin will ever make a guest appearance?

http://comicbook.com/2015/05/09/arrows-stephen-amell-says-any-dc-tv-show-could-crossover-reveals/

Amell continued, “Now, Constantine was an NBC show. I’m on The CW. I had had discussions with DC… so not NBC, not CW… but with DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was still on the air. And that was and is still on the table. So we have Flash, we have Legends of Tomorrow, a new show which is directly connected to the Arrow universe, we have Supergirl… she got picked up, directed by my good friend Glen Winter, that pilot, I can’t wait to see it, I’m sure it’s going to be amazing… there’s Gotham obviously, and I’m missing something… Titans, there you go. So again I wouldn’t worry too much about the movie universe, because we have no shortage of options for me and other characters to populate.”

I am going to listen to "That's Really Super, Supergirl" by XTC, if that counts.

So to paraphrase, Amell said, "man, wouldn't it be awesome if we could have cross overs between all these DC shows?!?!"

That pretty much sums it up. He wants to do crossovers, but the only people he ever talked to about it was DC and they have very little say in the process. Its primarily the Networks decision since its their shows and Amell didn't talk to anyone at any network. Sure, DC wants to do crossovers, it would only help their brands. But, I seriously doubt FOX wants to see its characters showing up on CBS or the CW and vice versa.

Just do the crossovers in a movie. Like the Avengers do with the Agents Of Shield show.

i have enjoyed a couple of the recent comic movies, but to be honest, the genre is destroying itself, just way overdoing it. way too many movies and shows, i feel like i need a scorecard to keep up with all the sequels and prequels.

I don't understand this line of thinking. If the shows are good, who cares if there are a lot of them? So far, I've enjoyed pretty much all the super hero tv shows and most of the movies. I'd rather see the networks flooding the tv with super hero shows than 6 more versions of CSI.

For movies, yes. But I think it lasts for a few more years...then likely another reboot.
