No, No, No, No, No, No, No. Hell no.

If they insist on keeping Castro around, move Bryant to left, Castro to 3rd, slide Russel to SS and put Baez at 2nd.

I'm very pro Bryant moving to the OF as soon as possible.

Brett the other day in one of his posts said Bryant is league average at 3B. Keep him there.

I say keep LF for Schwarber. I like my catcher to be great defensively so not feeling him there.

Move Russell to SS, Baez stays at 2nd. Let's flip Castro for pitching.

League average is being generous. Not a lot of history of dudes his size sticking at 3rd without significant injury issues down the line. He can move and assuming he'll have more than enough arm to play LF.

Maybe Theo could snag Beltre from Texas as a stop-gap at 3B?

I'm still not giving up on Mike Olt. He could be a guy to hit .260-.270 and smack 25-30 HRs in the middle of the lineup.

Even when he wasn't hitting shit last year, he still knocked 12 out.

He hit .263 last September when he came back up. He hit .271 in the spring. I thought he was starting to put it together.

I'm sorry,I just don't see it. Once you see a guy batting .140 or so,your faith is shattered.

Yeah, but there is no room, and his ceiling is less high than the Cubs' other options. And his floor is about as bad as it gets. At least Baez played top shelf defense.

Olt is garbage. Even a Cub fanboy like me can see that.

he still should be up here instead of Herrera. Herrera has a nice glove but struggles to hit the ball to the outfield.

There's nowhere to put him now. But, you move Castro or Baez now for pitching and put Bryant in LF and then you still have Schwarber up next year. Maybe Olt plays himself into to some trade value or he's good enough that you trade Babe Schwarber for more pitching.

I don't think Schwarber gets called up before September given his defensive liabilities. So, that gives Olt time to show something, if needed, and if he can get back in the next couple weeks. He took BP over the weekend.

every team needs a versatile latin spark plug. they suck all year and then bizarrely make a great play in the playoffs to win a game.

How about when the Cubs visit an AL park? It might be a good time to call up a DH.

Yeah, I don't feel like playing Olt 'for trade value' during a season the Cubs are competing for a Wild Card spot.

The idea isn't to trade Castro so Olt gets playing time. Olt just seems to be the logical candidate to fill that role given the options and the seeming desire to move Castro soon for some pitching and opening up a position for Baez - if they ultimately plan to put Bryant in the OF.

It's a choice between playing Coghlan or Olt at that point...or Herrera, I guess. Olt vs. Coghlan potentially seems like kind of a wash at this point.

It's not my preference to move Castro right now but if they can get a great deal, then I think this option is viable.

The guy that doesn't fit is Schwarber. Bryant needs to go to LF, and should end up there. Schwarber won't be a catcher...and if he is, it wouldn't be until 2017 anyways. His bat probably deserves to be on the club in 2016.

I want to see an infield of Rizzo, Castro, Russell and Baez. I know the Cubs need some pitching, but the organization has other pieces to move headlined by Schwarber.

If the Cubs really want to keep Bryant at 3B...Schwarber could end up in LF. Then you can trade Castro, Baez or Russell.

But let the return value of the trade dictate the move that is made, if you're comfortable with Bryant at both spots.

And don't get saddled with a Sabathia type contract.

No way do I trade Russell or Bryant for anything. The Cubs should try bringing up a couple of AAA starters and give them a look before any trades. I saw they had 2 guys doing pretty well at AAA.

There are no starters at Iowa that can outperform the Cubs current five.

we already have that with lester.

once lester's stuff drops precipitously it's going to be bad. up close he's one of the shittiest baseball players I've seen.

can't field
can't hit
can't run

he's fortunate he can pitch (for now) b/c he sucks at everything else.

and, at his worst, can still play three IF positions, might be able to learn some OF and is at least equal to Olt in power

Olt is done as a Cub

Baez is the second best defensive IF among top 40 players in Cubs system.

Got no problem with Bryant at 3rd, but Baez is better....Baez is better as SS than Starlin....and Russel better than all of them

Cant strikeout every game at AAA....need to show he can go a few games without a K.

Bryant did it. The strikeouts don't bother me in some situations. Man on third with one out...strikeout bothers me.

Power hitters will strike out. But take walks and shorten up when needed.

The way he strikes out is a concern. No attempt to shorten up still. Still swinging so hard he falls down.

And we have evidence that a few K's at AAA result in twice as many K's at the major league level.

Don't worry. It takes him a couple hundred at bats when he is brought to a new level before he starts to take off
