I would've said Danks had a better fastball/change differential today, but I'm sure somebody would verify on pitch FX or something and tell me I'm wrong. He probably just got lucky.

His velocity looked the same as it has post injury, location was the key . zero walks..he's been decent this year . Sox fanaticals won't say it..but he has ..he is traceable at the deadline..be decent in n.l. ..I'd take him on the cubs .

I'd do Danks for Lake/Alcantara & Baez. Cubs eat a few million. I've always said post-injury Danks would be a very good NL pitcher.

The one thing that has me holding out hope right now is the top of the rotation has gotten its shit together and could put the Sox on an extended run. The offense may only have to show up in force 1 out of every 5 games (this assumes Dank's meatball bonanza alternates on a weekly basis with Rodon's utter lack of control) to win a lot of games.

Pitching sustains in this league, and the Sox have a fantastic rotation when you take a step back and look around. The Royals, Tigers and Twins will all fade as their bats cool.

That said, if the defense and offense continue to be this useless the starters would have to do historic things to put the Sox in contention.

an infield with Beckham & Laroche compared to Gillaspie and Abreu is like a revelation from the baseball gods.
