So have we figured whether Dan is on the payroll of ownership and upper management of Chicago sports teams, or he's made the standard white, upper-middle class transition to Darwinian Conservatism "if they aren't born rich their genes suck"?

he definitley is talking to people who provide him info they want out there to support their position.

Wait until the cubs are on the Score next year and he is doing pregame. He will have a small Theo shrine and his beloeved Sox will be never mentioned.

For the record, I would be OK with Danny hating the Cubs....

I'm sure part of thibs' coaching steez was letting jimmy Butler know that he was a BIG BLACK STUD ready to WANG WHIP the league ASAP.

Jesus man.... What does Dan get out of all this? Owners boxes @ games? Do his kids have an easier time getting accepted into the GOOD colleges? Does he get str8up kickbacks or giant donations to onestep/whatever-charity-he's-the-frontman-for? Why do this water carrying/asslicking for ownership at the behest of his cred with his most ardent fans? Station wide mandate?

So let me get this straight. Thibs was fired for his inability to interact with women and Doug Collins was fired because of his ability at such.

Dan's "reporting" on stuff lately has really been interesting to say the least. He willingly gives the management point of view (based on information that management is spoonfeeding him) and then won't give an opinion on the subject. He is telling us what ownership thinks but then usually does not provide his own take on the matter to either side with ownership or player. It's all very odd... btw that is exactly what terry's guy is saying about this too

Yeah, and I don't think there's anything wrong with dan "reporting" what his source inside an organization is telling him. It's his apparent blind acceptance of such that is problematic. He never questions what he "is being told" as if there is no agenda and his source would never use him as a conduit to spin something in management's favor. On top of that, he becomes very angry and argumentative with anyone who does question the things he "is being told".

I'm liking White Knight Reinsdorf. I'll move the Sox to St. Petersburg just for you, m'lady.

Thibs has been fired yet the character assassination continues.

I'm with others on this one, this whole thing is just fucking strange, stranger than past Uncle Jerry's Family Struggles.

Thibs is gone, he has been fired but they keep shitting on him with weird and irrelevant stuff. Oh, he was canned because he was allegedly rude to certain women yet there isn't anything to corroborate this or even any loose lip stories if you'll pardon the expression.

I mean, the front office and their stooges in the media (KC/BernSTINE) can't even put together a coherent story from management as to why Thibs was fired. Fucking dumb as hell and it, yet again, reinforces the view (correctly) that the Bulls are a goddamn fucking clusterfuck of an organization and that is why no one (player or coach) wants to come here.

Yet, BernSTINE is out waving the flag that Thibs was fired because he was rude to women at the Advocate Center...how dumb is this?

There's some back channel chatter that Thibs also drew an even larger mustache on the portrait of Cheryl Berto and also tried to take credit for solving some theoretical math problem that GarPax had whiteboarded that a janitor actually solved.

I don't believe much of anything anymore and I did not think Thibs would get canned. But Jerry eating two years with no relief meant something was up.

Jerry doesn't put a price on chivalry Mike. Choking your coach however is ok by him.

Pretty embarrassing from Bernstein, luckily for him it's merely radio and won't travel far without being linked in THE BRIEF, and even so would be credited to 'Don'

There is no way that Reinsdorf would fire him over this. This is just their way of trying to find a story behind the story. Bernstein and Boers obviously didn't watch a lot of Bull basketball so they are trying to compensate for it by coming up with this bullshit.

The demand for Thibs was not as great as first anticipated. The Magic and Pelicans were really interested, weren't they? He is a good coach but he also was an overrated coach. Maybe just maybe this move was made primarily for basketball reasons after all.

The Bulls offensive schemes stunk and Thibs was the architect of said schemes. When if ever was it ever reported about his coordination of the offense. Sam Smith made reference to him calling all of the plays during games but never was it reported that he was his own offensive assistant coach. If Paxson wanted him to hire an offensive minded assistant coach and he declined, as has been reported then the offense that he coordinated had better work. That is tantamount to insubordination.

Paxson wanted him to hire Doug Collins as a spy. That's another Reinsdorf thing. Darryl Boston is the Sox front office spy.

That may well be true and I don't doubt it but what type of professional is Thibs if he would rather orchaestrate a shitty offense rather than have one of Jerry's guys on the payroll. Just hire someone else but he should never have been allowed to be the offensive assistant coach. That says something about him as much as it says something about Reinsdorf.

When many of your competitors are operating like GM and you're acting like a corner grocery it makes things difficult.

Agreed.

But the patriarchs of seemingly successful businesses love to get their rings kissed. And Jerry has a lot of rings.

I'm not sure how his contract was structured...perhaps other teams wanted him, but not at 4.5m per year (or more).
