What they sayin'?

Suggesting he'll clearly fall short of the title just because of the current players they have and all the turmoil they've had to endure over the past 5 years and also the friction between Butler and Rose (which Dan is going to ask him about, as clearly he's extremely well versed on the topic).

So Thibs was supposed to win with that but its ok if Hoiberg doesn't.

No and a couple respected actual NBA writers have flat out denied it.

Those will be the excuses when they are worse next year for Hoiberg.

Just to ask a question, as am I not nearly invested in this as you guys, but saying he played players to many minutes wouldn't be an excuse?

That's not an excuse it's supposed to be a cause. There are no real numbers to bear such a thing out. But bernstein (like most people) only likes stats when they support his argument.

No. Rose and Noah didn't play a lot of mins. With few exceptions elite players play 35+ minutes a game. LeBron has more miles on him than any NBA player not named Kobe and no one has complained about his mins. In fact he usually demands to be put back in the game when taken out.

Bernstein's item about the 20 or whatever excuses for Hoiberg didn't clue you into the day's narrative?

I find it's generally better for my sanity if I only consume Bernstein content from one media format per day, and the radio show has a much better chance of being listenable than any of his columns or items have of being readable.

Hah, that's why I love Nas. For the record, I have always been a Thibs guy. But it seemed like it was time to go.

Hoiberg, 42, will be introduced at a 2 p.m. news conference at the Advocate Center.

I agree it appears it was but the way management is conducting this smear campaign is crazy. Thibs is such a monster ( and apparently not a very good coach ) but if they won the title it would've been cool and they would've kept him despite him shitting on a woman's desk during national secretaries week. Give me a fucking break.

By the end of the week we will find out that Thibs murdered Jordan's father.

Thibs is sitting back smiling all the way to the bank, and then of course getting back in his film room. I also don't picture Thibs in front of a computer. I see him in a dark room with reels upon reels of tape.

GarPax screwed Thibs. I think he is a great coach. But they screwed up the information flow on injuries. They screwed up the playing time restrictions. They fired one of his favorite coaches. Basically, they meddled too much in the coach's business. Thibs seemed totally committed to coaching this team.

The sad thing is, Thibs generally did a great job coaching the team and improving individual players through development. The front office did a great job acquiring talent including bringing in affordable players that filled a nice role with the team. So both sides did their core jobs well, and yet we stand with a messy break-up and no championship(s).

That being said, Thibs seemed to lose the defensive effort this year he had with prior teams. And he failed to make adjustments in several playoff games.

I think he likes the money but is probably miserable. He loves coaching. I'm concerned about his health if he isn't coaching.

So now we are saying Jerry and GarPax are potential murderers?

Not murder but heart attack or something. Thibs clearly isn't the vacation type of guy.

Boy, this story is something else. Back stabbin, deceit, cover ups, and now potential murder. I like it.

No more than a couple days at Fire Island to be sure.

But no one really believes that. They were playing footsie with Hoiberg for over a year.

The backlash would have been much greater had they reached the finals. There would be no shame in losing to Golden State. You lose to Cleveland without Love, a hobbled Irving, and a poorly performing James then you should be held accountable.

Why wasn't Kyrie Irving attacked on defense? He guarded Rose with One leg and he was never attacked on defense. When people talk about adjustments this is what they are referring to. That matchup should have been exploited each and every time it was presented. That is what "great" coaches do.

You're the only one. No one else believes that he was fired for basketball reasons.

When Hoiberg is officially hired you will hear the usual stuff about change in philosophy. They are going from a defensive to an offensive coach. That is the first noticeable thing. There probably aren't going to be many questions asked about basketball because the behind the scenes is a much more sexier story.

A lot of people used that excuse for Thibs though, including Thibs himself.
