Wanna know if you are old??

If a kid asks who your favorite DJ is and you reply with someone on the radio.

The first time I felt old was about 20-some years ago when my younger cousins (like, +/- 10 yo) saw me playing Pac Man ... not only did they not know what it was (which I could've expected), but my brain locked-up when they asked "how do you win?" Win?!? You don't win video games, dammit, you play until you die, then you shove another quarter in and you play until you die, etc.

Or until the game locks up because they never expected someone to spend $89.75 playing and continuing Pole Position.

Me too. Fuck it. I dig being old.
Here's something to bitch about though...
Was replacing 2 furnaces and 2 AC's today, attic job. Close to 110 in the attic all day. 12 hour job, me and a helper.
After I was done, ran the heat, ran the AC's, everything works nice... go to collect, the homeowner says "you need to go home and shower."
Bitch.

Did she say it nicely like you poor thing or did she say it like you stink go shower?

I thought more about the graduating stuff while I was cleaning the other day. About that time, the Things I wanted to do, the uncertainty of the future. I kinda wonder what to do next, am I happy? I feel uneasy.

I also have this one white fast growing hair on my arm. It's bizarre and I know I'm old.

Said it mean like. Like you stink. I'm sure I did. Was sweating my ass off up there. Running my acetylene, hot as hell. 12 hours. No breaks. Gas lines were a bitch... pulled out 2 old as hell Ducane units, hauled up 2 new Carriers thru a teensy scuttle... was a seriously difficult install... I was soaked with sweat. Couldn't help it. Was hard work.

Dude don't feel uneasy. We have good lives. We're both happy in marriage, you've got kids, which I an totes Jelly of. I wouldn't want to ever be a teen again, sure it was fun, and I did a lot of crazy shit but I'm lucky I lived thru it and I am where I am and as happy as I am and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

That's mean. I give people water and say thank you. The work people do looks like it sucks most of the time.

That part of life is grate. :) I'm lucky and thankful. I'm having trouble feeling useful lately. Most of my problems aren't really problems, you know? My life is a little vapid. I need a little bit of a new purpose.

I guess I get that. Maybe a little volunteer work or something. I've been wanting to do that. Like install equipment for tornado victims in the area from last month or do one of those installs for veterans things I keep seeing at the hall but man I'm always working and I am just toast after work and when I have days off I've always got shit to do here or at some buddy's place or something. Can't really remember my last day off.

38 years for me. Aging doesn't really bother me though...until I try a physical activity that was once easy.

I feel old by looking to the left of my posts and seeing I have been posting for 10 years...and realizing that it has been longer than that because the board went through some kind of update where the original sign in dates were lost.

If I remember correctly, I was only recently married and had no kids when I first started posting. Coast was considered the old man because he was in his fifties.

I'm starting to get to that senior status parent level at the school that you get where parents of early grade kids who are going through it the first time look to you as someone who knows what you are doing. I remember looking at those parents when I was going through it the first time, wondering how they could be so calm and disengaged. I'm still not in the old range of parents even in the younger classes, which is nice. Those are the high achievers with one kid who finally got married and had a kid as late in life as physically possible. Then there are the parents in the upper classes who can already see retirement. I'm in a nice, comfortable middle.

I'm a young parent for both my kids, but more average for my daughter. A friend told me last week, when our kids were in preschool she thought I was the nanny. I get carded with a wow occasionally too.
I think it's my height that throws people off but my mom didn't start looking old til she was 60.

I walked through River North yesterday at lunch time and all I saw were 1000s of 20-somethings in their 20something uniforms doing their bro thing or flirting with co-workers or noses pointed at their iPhones.

It made me very depressed thinking about the future of this country.

Seriously. That's how fucking old I am!

That is depressing. I think about that too. At a party last week the teenagers all had their face in their phones the whole time. I kept thinking in 20 years are they going to be standing around somewhere talking about the good old days? What are they going to say? Remember when I went to your house and we stared at our phones, it was wild.
