There are a lot of people that smell like B.O. and patchouli, but most are generous, kind people. There is a real sense of family and community, in the scene.

As usual, Boers is just opening his mouth and saying things. His guy probably told him that.

He knew Phish was playing Alpine Valley before the shows were announced.

I think Boers experience is based in the mess the deadheads made of traffic and stuff at world theater being from Mokena.

The Grateful Dead played only three shows at Tinley Park, in July of 1990. I'm sure Boers was nowhere near the venue.

The GD couldn't believe how terrible the sound was in that awful shed, so they never went back.

Traffic sucks before and after any sold-out concert. When the Dead came to town for three days, the towns received a nice boost to the local economy. Tons of people spending money on gas, beer, food, hotels, etc. Small towns like East Troy, WI and Noblesville, IN love it when the circus comes to town for a few days. The heads are almost always polite, and the locals reciprocate.

Deadheads are thieves? Boers is an idiot.

That's any concert though. I guess the larger point (of fact) is that Bernstein catches most of the heat for saying idiotic things while the perception is that good old Uncle Terry is just some harmless old kook who makes funny sounds when in reality he makes just as many hateful rude sweeping generalizations as Bernstein but suffers none of the backlash. Fuck that piece of shit.

How many experiences has Boers had with Deadheads? How does Boers know that Deadheads are thieves?

At least he had a thought that didn't parrot Bernstein's.

Chus your fight is with Terry not me. I remember those shows and the traffic. Other than being late one day I had no issues.

My Mom has PSL on Club Seats and did not get the pre-sale information to me in time. So...I should have had 2 tickets to either use or sell.
Miss a little...

WDCB will start carrying The Grateful Dead Hour starting next week, Monday nights at 11. It replaces something called "Tent Show Radio," so I'll consider it an improvement.

Back in the 90's, it was on XRT, Sunday nights at 9:00.

Marty Zivin's pirate station had it before he took it off the air. The website actually listed it as an affiliate.

I'm trying, trying to get into the Grateful Dead, by the way. I have an important business acquaintance who is huge into them and I want to make sure we have some common ground.

Listen to American Beauty. That's a good jumping off point.

That's the same lazy joke that has been recycled for years. Maybe if Conan had better material, he would still be hosting the Tonight Show, and not toiling away on TBS, sandwiched between reruns of The Big Bang Theory and The Office.

Well, it was the first time I heard it and thought it was funny.
And maybe if Jay Leno wasn't such a backstabbing asshole, Conan might still be hosting the Tonight Show.
Why so testy? Did someone dump a box of rain on your joint?
8)

It's been used here too many times to count.

Regardless, he is on a cable channel, in between reruns of sitcoms.

Nobody is testy. You have been around here long enough to know when I am testy.

Was that another Conan joke?

I wouldn't call making 12 Mil a year "toiling away".
Plus he only has to do shows 4 nights a week.
This isn't even about Conan, it was about a fucking joke that you took umbrage to.
As far as the joke being made here numerous times, I generally don't give much attention to GD-related humor,
so I guess I must have missed all those.
You came off testy because your post was testy.
Jon Stewart is also on a cable channel between reruns of Futurama and whatever that shit show Amy Schumer or whoever is doing. What's your point? The joke got a laugh, from me, and especially from Conan's band. BFD.
Move on, nothing to see here.

ETA: No the Box of Rain comment was mine.....FWIW.

No shame in making $12 million, but this isn't exactly where he imagined his career would be, on a cable channel with a small audience, making lame, tired jokes, while Seth Meyers and James Corden have late night shows on the networks.

I just didn't see the humor in an old, recycled joke. You just dropped the f-bomb. It appears that you are the testy one.

He didn't get booted from the Tonight Show, he built the Daily Show into what it is.

Oh, well if his band laughed, it must be gold. Nobody ever pretends their boss' jokes are funny. Howard Stern must be the funniest guy in history, the way Robin cackles hysterically.

That was the point of my original post.

Nobody smokes joints anymore. It wastes too much weed.

Props for knowing Box of Rain.
