Peter Gammons giving another scouting report on Baez playing very well at 3B....about thr 5th I have heard.

Just watching him fill in at SS last year, even in warmups, his ability to play the INF, isnt really the question....he is the 2nd best infielder we have right now (behind russell), fluid, quick strong arm, throws on a line...

just not concerned about him playing 3rd...defensively...

those strikeouts though....TURRIBLE....but have to bring him up at some time and see if any real progress has been made on them....and I dont expect the guy to come up and not K....but swinging at everything, just cant be. Even controlled K's would be an improvement.

They should trade him for Ovechkin, Stamkos, Nash and Washington 2016 2017 first rounder.

Getting arrested in the offseason? Being investigated for crimes. Thinking about other things except baseball in the middle of a baseball game? Trying his best to prove Dusty was right.

During the last Washington series, he swung on a 2nd strike....and almost in stride while the bat was still in front of him, he reached into his backpacket for a sunflower reload pops it into his mouth....then takes the bat back and gets ready for the next pitch...and spits his shells across the plate.

Side Note: I would limit everyone to 1 thin chain if you insist on having your cross on chest....but I see guys like Soler, Garcia, Castro...running the bases and the chains hitting them in the face. Saw Garcia in right for the Sox have his chains fly up into his face. Cant imagine thats a big help.

Baez should be at short if he's figured himself out offensively. Russell is too boxy and mechanical. I'd rather him at third and Castro at second. Put Bryant in right and Schwarber in right and make a decision on CF.

Russell is just a pure fielder....not sure if the gun is that good to play 3rd....Baez has the gun....

Russell at SS today....

Its a good problem to have....but its still a problem right now...and you can say it needs to work itself out, in terms of Theo just seeing who remains as a Major league bat.

Maybe Baez just cant do it at the big league level with the bat? Would be one of the biggest busts in baseball history and find me the ONE guy who said he wouldnt make it, because I dont think anyone said it....I think his floor was still a MLB player.

Bring him up!

If you can get a few years of early Uggla like production you take it and don't look back. Even at his worst last year, he could occasionally run into a bomb with his bat. We need to score some runs dammit!

Right now you only have to be careful against Rizzo and Bryant. You're getting very little production from the outfield and ss positions. On days when Ross plays, you're looking at six guys (including the pitcher) you expect nothing from. That's scary.

Hope his hand is badly bruised, not broken and it prevent him from squeezing the bat so hard....then let him take some AB's!

I do not want Tulowitzki.

If Castro and Russell continue to struggle over the next few weeks, and the Cubs remain in a Wild Card drivers seat, you have to consider Baez and aggressively pursue Zobrist. 2B and SS bring very little to the table offensively and defensively at the moment.

You can probably have Zobrist and Kazmir if you're willing to give back Russell, McKinney, and something else.

I'm starting to question if you're truly a Cubs fan IMU. Baez sucks but you love him. Schwarber may be their best hitter but you can't trade him fast enough. Russell will be fine. Castro may never mature but he's still a better option than Kavier Baez.

I would take that deal even if he only played 81 games a year.
