This was hyperbole, right?

No, that's what they said. I shit you not.

Terry said he's seen great playoff series dating back to the 60s and this is probably the greatest one he's ever seen.

Dan was so enraptured by its brilliance the he sat there watching it agog.

I really was tired off it today. Too much basketball. Hockey at this moment with Jay Z.

I think that was the 1st time B&B had Jay on as a guest. Which is amazing since the Hawks have had deep playoff runs for 7 years now and Jay has been the SCORE's hockey expert.

As I've said before, Jay knows his shit and he's very likable. Rare for a SCORE guy.

He also talked about the real fans not wanting the game to change for more brand/appeal. Said that if they don't lose beards and change my "favorite band" as he put it would go away. Um no it won't. It may not ever be the NBA and that is fine. They are in the midst of a 10 year huge by their standards tv contract. They are not going anywhere. Why are people so obsessed with ratings/brands/growth?

Terry earlier on said everyone in the media was against them on the NBA exec beard thing. Danny authoritatively pronounced that they are all wrong. During the Larry tranny is where my post comes from. Larry think if we do not let go of our meatball traditions not only won't hockey grow but it will die as in cease to exist.

In the little bit of Jay I heard today, he basically said the Bolts were lucky.

And Bernstein (it may have been yesterday) cannot yield an inch to a caller who disagrees with him. A guy said that WHILE HE UNDERSTANDS the stats show the Hawks have a 52% to 48% edge in possession thus far, the Lightning SEEM to be doing more with their possessions, or the possessions are better quality. Dan flat out said nonsense...the stats don't lie! I'm not saying the caller was right, but Dan just refused to consider that the raw possession numbers might not paint the entire picture.

B&B are to lazy to really learn any hockey beyond youth league and what they read. They do not talk about it and when someone calls they bluff or dismiss. Useless and lazy.

Not a bad show today after the obligatory Lebron James public service announcement was done with. They shotgunned a guy who wanted to talk about the US Men's soccer wins over Germany and Holland  I thought Uncle Teary looked healthy on the stream. Healthy for him, anyway. Dan just looked gray. Even his skin was ashen.

This basketball has been as good as Butler-UConn Championship of '11.

Dan's showing his ass here as just making up an opinion for conversation's sake.

That is what he has become these days. He probably prides himself on being a bombthrower but the problem with this is that it just comes off as fake. His Lebron love began after the "decision". If not after it definitely was noticeable around the yr he was in free agency. The decision made Lebron James a hated made and hence his love of Lebron was born.

You can detect a pattern with him in regards to his "stances". Whenever something or someone is overwhelmingly popular or unpopular he will simply take the opposite position, drum up interest on the opposing side and feign outrage at anyone that disagrees with him. It doesn't matter if the person makes valid points because Bernstein has a bully pulpit by which to communicate his thoughts. His methods are justifiable by the fact that his is the highest rated show on the station.

Actually the funniest thing was he was hating on Lebron as much as anyone in the immediate aftermath of the decision, going on about how disappointed he was that Lebron wasn't daring to be great like stars of the past. He's been a front and vocal supporter of both idiotic overstated narratives about James in the last 5 years; at least those that hate for hatred's sake and those who never stopped slurping him have a modicum of consistency.

That's what I remember. Once the decision became overwhelmingly unpopular and James became universally disliked he became his greatest champion. It all just seems contrived.

good point. plus if it were an olympic event, and on par with the excitement, they would just yawn and berate you for liking the olympics.

Liking your country you mean?

well, i don't even know if they care about it that much to take it to that level. they would just laugh at you for watching the olympics period.

It really is the same argument as tattoos on basketball players but they are taking the opposite position because...well, you know why

I know that the thing that has prevented me from embracing hockey is beards and not the fact that the sport was virtually unassailable to me as a youth. All polish jokes about skis aside, my dad didn't skate, his dad didn't skate and I don't really skate.

Dan has become the master of absolute arbitrariness. There is no yesterday that isn't his story and today's is the only one that is important.

Of course, it doesn't to have a daft parrot sitting alongside.

No it wasn't.

Last years finals was awful with nearly every game ending in a blowout. The 2013 Finals was probably the best finals series in a generation.
