The media must move on because the pro golf tour has. Tiger thinks he can fool the fans and with help from the media he can carry on the charade for a while longer. But I’ll bet there are local golf pros in your town right now who could beat him.Tiger shot an 85 – his worst round as a pro – in The Memorial Tournament this past weekend as tournament host Jack Nicklaus looked on. Kudos to the honesty of Dottie Pepper, who during the broadcast commented after Woods shot a 70 that it was fool’s gold and if he couldn’t hit the fairways, he wouldn’t be able to sustain a good score. She was right.Everyone great in sports takes a fall as they get older, from Muham-mad Ali to Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle to Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth. It might be a slower process for some, but I’ve been around long enough to say Tiger will never contend again. I keep hearing Nicklaus won a Masters at 46. Yeah, but he didn’t shoot many 85s or miss the cut like Tiger. It’s over folks, but it was fun while it lasted.
