Because of the major flooding in the area.

and they flew in that day, chose to get a hotel by the airport??? instead of downtown?

NHL using the priceline travel agent.

The CUP left NY at 8 AM, takes over an hour to get here. Get a damn room in the city!

If not for the torrential rain, the cup gets there earlier. It wasn't late anyway. The Hawks weren't standing around after the game, waiting for the cup to arrive.

Does Bettman get booed every year he presents the Smythe and Cup? He looks like such a smarmy little assrod.

Actually...they did stand around waiting for the cup to arrive...

And those RAINS...were predicted...hell, my phone had warning after warning.....and gave plenty of notice.

IF the Hawks won, they would need to be with the cup....and guess what....The Hawks wernet driving to Ohare to go party...so once again, why not have the hotel room close to the UC? So when CUP watching Guy 1 needed a break, Cup guy 2 comes in ....

After the game ended, the teams went through the handshake line, the Conn Smythe trophy was presented to Keith, and then the Cup came out. There was no delay.

Maybe it got to the UC later than planned, but there was no delay in the presentation of the Stanley Cup to Toews. #ImaginaryTelevision

The vaunted trophy arrived fashionably late.........

the crew escorting the Cup to the facility left its hotel in the outskirts of Chicago at puck drop.........AT PUCK DROP??????

Even though the crew eventually got the police escort, it still did not arrive to the rink on time.

The presentation of the Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy, the latter of which was given to Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith, could not go on as initially planned,

Additionally, Bettman just came out on the ice with no introduction and started talking, thats because THE CUP WAS LATE...and when it got there, they rushed it out...

Did you not see the carrier rushing the Conn Smythe to the ice...he was short of running.

They didn't introduce him so that he didn't get booed more than he already did.

Do you think the ESPN story is a lie?

That's what I figured. He gets killed every year, no matter the venue.

I don't think anybody is disputing that story. The TV broadcast said as much. My point is that there was no delay in the presentation of the SC to Toews. The Hawks weren't just standing around waiting for the SC to arrive.

According to the article, they were.

Down Goes Brown once ranked the annual Booings Of The Bettman.

So the tradition is that the Cup is not in the building to start the game...if one team cant win the cup that night...OK reasonable tradition.

THEN HAVE THE CUP AT A HOTEL WITHIN MINUTES OF THE UC.....NOT IN ELMHURST!

The story that I didn't grasp was that the Cup was rushed to the UC with a police escort that got to speeds near 100 mph. Where were they coming from that this was both necessary and possible?

They got an Ohare area hotel...which really made no sense...

The Hawks were favored to win that game...Vegas speaking...but still...you know there is a very good chance you will be bringing it to the UC...and not flying out...Plus, the guys that have to take care of the cup, I am 100% sure would like to have a room downtown instead of going to Ohare..

It had to be rushed because of the weather..and the street closures...I understand that part...but you EASILY could have avoided the unexpected flooding delays...but chose not to...

Traveling secretary? Please dont post a Seinfeld pic like you are the only one that thought of it....

None of what they did makes any sense. Assuming you fly it in the day before you stay at any hotel you want. Then a few hours before the game starts you load Stanley into the trunk of a limo and ride down to the UC. Limo parks in the bowels with Stanley remaining in the trunk. The purple-suited guy goes up to the press box and watches the game. At the second intermission he goes down, retrieves Stanley and gets him ready for a possible presentation. If no cup winner that night then he and Stanley ride the limo back to the hotel or airport.

Maybe the Cup was working its' own angle, working up a lather with string of hotel room visitors and forgetting about the time.

Maybe the Cup knows the real real, knew it was one time free for the next few weeks and months to come. A hectic schedule, appearances, travel and strange locations. A lot of hands, a lot of lips, a lot of photos. Got to be "On" all the time.

So yeah, maybe just one last time of enjoying being the Cup the way the Cup likes to enjoy it. Get'n it on Cup style, knowhatImsayin! Get loose and freaky before you have to be cleaned up and handled with white kid gloves.

Maybe the cup was just watching some local TV and became enthralled. Locked its' self in a room and just foused on the weather. And who was giving it....

Who's getting it?

Why. Does. Anyone. Care?
