For the second time in recent months WSCR AM 670 talk show host Dan Bernstein is in hot water for tweeting an offensive message about a female television personality.

Bosses of the CBS Radio sports/talk station yanked Bernstein from his afternoon show Wednesday and ordered him to delete a tweet he posted Monday night about Cheryl Scott, the meteorologist on ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7.

Minutes after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, Bernstein tweeted: “And the real award for this year’s close connection to the @NHLBlackhawks is @CherylScottWX!!” It apparently was an allusion to rumors that linked Scott romantically to one or more Blackhawks players.

Last March Scott used social media to deny the rumors. Here is the text of her Instagram message:

On Tuesday, bosses of the Score received calls from ABC 7 management and Scott’s agent, attorney Andrew Stroth. Both objected strongly to the tone and inference of Bernstein’s tweet, according to sources familiar with the conversations.

By Wednesday, Bernstein had been slapped with a one-day suspension and was ordered to remove the message. Score producer Matt Abbatacola filled in for him alongside co-host Terry Boers. Bernstein is expected to return Thursday.

Score officials did not respond to requests for comment. Stroth declined to comment. Bernstein’s agent, Brian Musburger, could not be reached for comment.

Last March Bernstein touched off a firestorm for initiating an exchange of tweets with Score midday co-host Matt Spiegel that many viewed as sexist and degrading toward Aiyana Cristal, a female anchor/reporter for Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

Both Bernstein and Spiegel apologized on the air for their comments. “I’m an idiot,” Bernstein said at the time. “My tweet was childish, my tweet was crass and unnecessary, and I’m sorry I dragged an innocent person into it who’s doing a job, and I made an observation I shouldn’t have made, and it was childish and silly and stupid.”

A one day suspension is comical. If they really wanted to look like they gave a shit, it should have been a simple 4-day / rest of week suspension. He should not have been on the air Tuesday....and the rest of the week,....if they really wanted to suspend him. One day is comical.

First of all, I am surprised he did this so recently after his last "mistake" on twitter, so him doing something else even dumber at this point cant be ruled out.

The suspension isnt given to discipline him. It is given to partially appease the others at ABC who are in his industry...so they can say they took some action...

but more important at this point , if Danny Boy goes off on his next target.....after some Wine, late at night....they would now have the right to fire him, if he does do something, and he would have very little to ay about it.

I've said it before, but I'm really surprised that Camp One Step still wants a guy who has been called racist, sexist, and misogynistic more than once to remain as one of the faces of their charity.

Feder says 'bosses' as much as Bernstein, huh. I'd bet they get the feauxpology before Scott anyway.

His last apology was about as insincere as could be. It was all about him, how he needs to do better, he needs to improve....I missed the apology last time.

I do expect the same.

Once again, its not about the suspension, its not about anything other than caving to some pressure from another media outlet and having another mark against him so when he does something really dumb he is out.

Essentially, all female commentary might be off limits for him....

Al female commentary should've been the edict issued last time. This should've been last straw. I'm guessing it's silence from him today. No apology , just will ignore anything happened.

All being said, Bernstein's suspension does give more attention to Cheryl Scott baning Sharpe. Feder tried to write it carefully, but when people ask about it, it will be explained on twitter and facebook by everybody.

But, yeah, Bernstein can't talk about women ever again. Not on the air. Not on twitter. Not even to his wife.

His tweet wasn't even that clever. Was this the first time he actually went on the record mentioning Cheryl Scott by name?
