No.

Then what is this BS that Bernsie spouts about Theo having all the minors and coaches in line with the "way" as they drafted and brought these kids along fundamentally? Or was it bullshit and was it just draft kids that can smash the ball and buy/trade pitching later?

Who gives a fuck what Bernstien says?

Relax.
Back when Theo joined the Cubs and convinced a Ricketts' family trust member that the Cubs incoming bandiwth demands were worth investing in a Chicago cable franchise, Dan was hanging in the back of the right synagogue to tell us that the mantra "more Internet" was like demanding "more cowbell".

Anyways, Terry's secret contact (which is never in the remotest of ways is associated with Dan's secret contact) will confirm upon Dan's return that they saw this flaw but chose to secure their own vulnarabilities instead of exploiting others. But Dan hasn't heard from his uber secret IT/Front Office/advance scout guy to validate.

Stay tuned and listen for meatpants to lob the transition softie.

Sounds like a couple low-level goofs got ahold of Luhnow's password.

Although, the overeaction to the click-bait reports is kind of amusing.... somebody will get fired. BFD.

You obviously haven't read any of the actual report. Olney was just talking about it on Baseball Tonight, and that's almost exactly what he intimated. Personally I don't give a shit about this, or any of the Patriot scandals... simply remarking on the media's overblowing of whatever narratives will generate pageviews.

I would think when the FBI gets involved it is kind of a big deal.

I'm starting to get the impression that this story isn't going to end up being a couple of low-level dipshits that got bored one night.

This Lunhow fella has got 2 desgrees from UPenn (one in engineering), and an MBA from Northwestern. At one point the guy worked for the top consulting firm in the world (McKinsey).

He's clearly not some tech Luddite, nor is he a dullard.

If he didn't have a clear grasp of the importance of security issues at this point, as well as practice them fairly rigorously, I'd be pretty shocked.

http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/06/18/jeff-luhnow-cardinals-astros-hacking-scandal

... “That’s absolutely false,” said Luhnow, who worked as a technology executive before he began his career in baseball. “I absolutely know about password hygiene and best practices. I’m certainly aware of how important passwords are, as well as of the importance of keeping them updated. A lot of my job in baseball, as it was in high tech, is to make sure that intellectual property is protected. I take that seriously and hold myself and those who work for me to a very high standard.” ...

Alrighty then. Any comment I made whatsoever would be read as defensive.

I'm more annoyed at losing 2 of 3 to the Twins...

Also, we are on a message board, so I can't hold it against you too much for being a literalist... if you read my comment in context, "not giving a shit" isn't a claim of literal indifference to the topic, but rather a disdain of the furor or uproar, similar to the media and other fanbases in the various Patriot shitshows. As an aside, fortunately the Cardinal brass do not have a record of handling such investigations in the manner of the Patriots.

So, yeah, .... so much for the baloney idea of it being some low-level nobody schmuck getting his jollies off.

tl;dr:

* Breaking the law is apparently a logical thing to do when it's a case of checking to see if someone else is possibly breaking the law, because reasons.

* Director of Scouting launched ... that's not low-level, kids

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/cardinals-fire-scouting-director/article_b529088f-70c3-51c5-bab2-106afa1d2a12.html

The St. Louis Cardinals have terminated the contract of their scouting director, Chris Correa, after an “imposed leave of absence,” a lawyer for Cardinals executives said Thursday.

James G. Martin, lawyer for chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. and general manager John Mozeliak, declined to comment on the reasons for his separation or any details of an investigation into the hacking of a Houston Astros database.

Martin said that the Cardinals were continuing to investigate. He declined to comment when asked whether any employee has admitted hacking the Astros, citing an ongoing governmental investigation.

Correa declined to comment.

In a prepared statement, Correa lawyer Nicholas Williams wrote, "Mr. Correa denies any illegal conduct. The relevant inquiry should be what information did former St. Louis Cardinals employees steal from the St. Louis Cardinals organization prior to joining the Houston Astros, and who in the Houston Astros organization authorized, consented to, or benefitted from that roguish behavior."

Correa has admitted hacking into a Houston Astros database but said it was only to verify whether the Astros had stolen proprietary data, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Correa did not leak any Astros data, and is not responsible for additional hacks that the FBI has alleged occurred or leaking any data, said the source.

Last month, Martin said that DeWitt and Mozeliak were not targets of the investigation.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Schelp, who represents four other employees, also said last month that his clients were not targets. He declined to comment Thursday.

This past winter, Correa was promoted to director of amateur scouting and given the reins to the team's draft approach. Last month, Correa oversaw his first draft as the director, and he was involved over the past three weeks with signing draft picks and having them debut throughout the Cardinals' minor-league system.

The Cardinals signed their top 11 picks, spending close to their $7.2 million cap for those picks. The Cardinals and Correa finalized deals with the last two of their top 11 picks this week.

In 2009, Correa left a Ph.D. program at the University of Michigan to work on a contract basis with Jeff Luhnow, who was director of amateur scouting and farm director. He later joined the front office full-time and was promoted to manager of baseball development in 2012.

Luhnow left the team to become the Astros general manager in 2011.
