But, I won't say that. Just throwing it out there.

Still in play.

He needs to be MUCH better...and once again, I am not even talking about the production and numbers. He needs better AB's...that was some really bad stuff.

He needs to learn to make consistent contact. I'm not sure he can do that.

LOL a couple of cheapies, but still dude looks like he's gonna rake. If I'm a GM I only draft hitters without necks.

he mashes the ball. His foul balls were raked as well.

Now you see why Theo is all for that DH in NL.

Cheapies? He had one infield single, the other 3 were solid. Hard hit ball down the line...tough play for a first baseman. The other two were well hit groundball singles.

There will be times where it looks like Schwarber should probably be a full-time DH. But it makes so much sense when you see how much Epstein’s front office values college position players at the top of the draft (and fears the injury risks associated with pitchers).

“We were able to really go into that room and turn off the outside influence,” amateur scouting director Matt Dorey recalled. “We just really (challenged) each other about who we felt was the best player for that pick, and for the Cubs, and where we were going.

“Once we were able to kind of strip away the static and get that out of our vision, we were able to listen to our area scout — (Stan Zielinski) — who’s one of the best scouts on our staff. He’s been doing it forever.

“Stan was as convicted as I’ve ever heard him talking about this player, and this person, and how it aligned with our philosophy moving forward.

“So I’m not surprised with (how) he’s competed and how he’s performed with the bat. I guess the best surprise for us is just how well he’s caught on with the instruction to develop behind the plate.”

nice.

All the Cubs great successes over the years are attributable to well hit groundballs and towering line drives.

They do...when Abreu hits it through guys, because it is hot so hard, they do give him hits sometimes...

Look at it this way. A beatwriter for the Indians, or at least the Indians home official scorer, in his judgement said it was a hit....?

I will sit down and wait for my answer....

High BABIP is only used to discredit Tyler Flowers.

I am going to have re-figure Hawg Ass Jr.'s batting average with hard hit ground balls factored in.

Not according to the Cubbie Awesomeness Hit Factor, hard hit ground balls are factored in higher.

Dont think you need to go BABIP deep to discredit flowers.

You said that he hit the ball hard, and included 2 hard hit ground ball singles. This guy is so great that he has developed a new kind of single, a hard hit ground ball single, that is awesome.

Don't be a tool.

Hatchetman said that his hits were cheapies. I refuted that.

But do you really want to equate infield dribblers and popups that fall down the lines with hard hit balls? Sure, they affect the batting average the same, but really?

It just seems very Cubbieish to me with all of the balloons being tossed at this organization.

slow down on the greatness train. But don't discount the velocity off the bat. Even if it's in the ground, it's important.

How is Shwarbers minor league strike out ratio. He passes the eye test for one game but I just don't want to discover he is another Baez.

20%. Walk rate is 16%, though. He and Bryant have/had similar numbers in the minors.

Except Hawg isn't a Sox fan. It's not just Sox fans who find the premature celebration of multiple Cub championships to be absurd. It's every other fanbase in baseball.

Sox fans again making bad baseball thoughts... and generalizations with NO facts.

Do you have a source for "every otherfan base in baseball"?

All I know is the Cubs are sitting in the 2nd wild card spot in June with a 2 game cushion.

There have been some hiccups along the way but it's been a vast improvement from the past 3 years. I expected a up/down season with a .500 finish instead of the 90 game pace they're on.

There is an absurb amount jealousy for the Cubs bubbling. I welcome it as the Cubs fans are usually the jealous ones.
