100% agree

Mitch is a good dude. He works hard to maintain relationships and be a good guy. While he will stand by his guys, when it gets to the corporate level, thats above his paygrade.

I don't know Mitch, but agree that he and any other person in his position would do their best to avoid dealing with this. Once the suits come knocking, obviously they had to respond.

I do think 1 day suspension is weak. The incident does give them another entry in the file should they need to fire him, but they have no desire to do that. You also need to factor in the whole good old boy network that still exists in radio between hosts, execs, and sponsors.

The only thing that will get B&B out of the score is a simple contract dispute over money.

One odd thing I learned in this is that Dan uses an agent. Why have Musberger to negotiate a deal with only two stations in town? The negotiating cannot be that hard really and he takes a big cut I am sure. At any rate, why wouldn't an agent tell him to stop this shit as well a while ago?

The agent makes money because of the client. When the client can use whatever agent they want, you shut the fuck up.

I was going the other way. The agent makes nothing when the client is fired and unemployable due to his mouth/tweets.

Doesn't his agent know enough that it is hurting the bosses brand by having his client's name mucked? I thought Musburger was one of the good guys.

Maybe his boss will hang him out to dry with attorney's fees in some form or fashion?

As to his bosses at CBS I'm sure they're disappointed that Dan has not listened to what their attorneys told him before. Or at least that he didn't listen to their "we are smarter than you, Dan" factual admonishment.

Wonder what he'd say if say Derrick Rose was willfully and repeatedly putting his bosses on the spot like this.

Cheryl's lawyer: Mitch, your employee cant keep saying these things about my client. It's slander and libel.

Mitch:

Bernstein: My sources are infallible.

Mitch:

Cheryl's lawyer: See you in court.

Mitch:

Mitch's boss: Bernstein is suspended for a day. Good enough.

Mitch:

Cheryl's lawyer: Plus a public apology. And not a smarmy one like last time.

Mitch:

If the rumors are true then Sharpe will certainly not be nominated for husband or father of the year. However, IMO it's silly to say that CS isn't doing anything wrong. She has a will of her own. She can choose to not get involved with a man who is married and has children.

Well, that's a philosophical disagreement. I don't think a person has any responsiblity to respect vows that weren't made by them.

Whether she acted inappropriately or not isn't the issue. First, it's speculation, but even if true, it's absolutely fucking ridiculous that it was spoken/tweeted about by Bernstein. It's none of his fucking business. That's some serious mean-spirited, high school level gossip which could potentially fuck with her career.

I'm probably in the minority but I think this is approximately 1000x worse than boob-gate. That little Bernstein misstep only garnered sympathy for Aiyana Crystal. But his fucked up innuendo paints Cheryl Scott in a horrible light, drags families into it, etc. 1000x worse...

I understand. My grandparents wouldn't have either. Probably Seacrest doesn't. But that viewpoint strikes me as a patriarchal vestige from a time past, where the man is some weak-willed victim of his own sexual desires and the woman is a predatorial hussy or homewrecker who should be forced to wear an "A" on her tunic. Sharp already wears the "A" so I think we have it right.

To me, it has absolutely nothing to do with patriarchy and has everything to do with character, class, and regard for other people besides yourself.

First, it's not viewed equally for men and women, so it is patriarchal. If Cheryl Scott were cheating on a husband, she's be the villain and her lover would be the cool guy "hittin' it". It's a no win for the woman on either side of the equation.

Second, I just don't think it's the responsibility of a single person to concern him or herself with the possible commitments of a potential lover. That's the responsibility of the person who made the commitments.

I'll have a problem with my wife, not some guy I don't know. But I know it's easier to blame and hate that guy.

So the person that cooperates with the infidelity bears no responsibility?

You need to think this one through a little further. Moral relativity is at once a slippery slope and a high cliff.

I wouldn't think her lover was a "cool guy who was hittin' it." I'd think he was just as wrong as she is for being involved in that situation.
