I disagree. As we saw last night, said pitcher could be sporting a sub 2.00 era in this example and not have any wins. Over a long enough stretch, he would not only be good, but the one of the best pitchers of all time.

I think another good example of JORRs point is our very own Jose Quintana. Based on his measurables he's a pretty decent pitcher. His career won loss is 27-36. Big enough sample size to start seeing whats going on with him. So is he just the unluckiest pitcher in baseball 4 years running ( no run support ) or does he just manage to give up enough runs to lose the majority of his games?

Yeah, if it was just 15 starts this season on a team that can't seem to string two hits together, we can take that relatively small sample for what it's worth and we might expect him to find better results in different circumstances.

I think it's safe to say Hendricks isn't the same pitcher this year. Seems as though the league has a pretty good gameplan against the right this season. Hopefully he and Bosio can re-adjust.

With his struggles and the uncertainty from the 5th spot in the rotation, there's no doubt we're going to need to acquire some solid starting pitching if we want to have a realistic shot at the post-season. In a perfect world you can get Hammels. However, with McFAIL taking over any day now down in Philly who knows what they'll do trade wise.

I guess the question is whether an underperforming Lester will make it more likely or less likely that they go after Price. On one hand, he would be needed more than ever--but if Lester is a bust (following bust out Edwin Jackson), Ricketts won't (or shouldn't) trust Theo to commit $200 million to another pitcher.
