You aren't reading it wrong. But when you look at ratings you will see that overall numbers can fluctuate wildly over one month. (See B&B's numbers for January as an example of this.) And a quarter is the real number that matters in the ratings, not one month. So, Mac is the person that is actually correct here.

Mac is still the king of sports talk. Sitting pretty where he wants to be.

Mac tried to get the afternoon show and didn't. So he sits out.

Mid day ratings tank, and the Score comes armed with more cash. And he says no.

Talked for years about his dream of working on a rock station, and now he is.

Bernsie has fucked up twice since Mac left. His position has gotten stronger again.

Mac will be offered that position when it opens up. Call him a lot of things, but an idiot isn't one of them.

i think 2 interns could do the drive morning show and the ratings would be the same. i miss mac on sports talk radio but i cant blame him for trying something new and getting paid well to do it.

I used to be a 100% Mac apologist. But his new gig sucks for his fans. I am glad it is working out for him, part time with plenty of pay. If that helps him sleep at night, then so be it. As a fan of his sports talk, I lose.

When I want to listen to classic rock, Pandora is the way to go.

Especially considering he hates at least 50% of them.

Mac talking classic rock always reminded me of North talking politics - they both thought they knew more than they did and that listeners valued their opinions. That said, I can understand and appreciate him pursuing another avenue if it brought excitement back to the job. I just wonder if it will last. Sportstalk can certainly hit the doldrums but interesting storylines are always around the corner. By definition, Classic Rock is a pretty stagnant genre.
