For all the excitement and talk about how the Cubs are doing it "the right way" and how dreadful the White Sox are, the great young Cubs are just about as far from a division title as the most atrocious Sox team since the 1970.

Speaking of three nights in June, I just realized that neither team was home for a weekend series...seems pretty rare.

 just cant help yourself can you? Does this make you feel better about the Sox season?

The Sox aren't in a division with a team playing great at .680 clip.

The Sox also are not even close to the wild card while the Cubs are right in that race.

Dude, I'm about as clear-eyed a baseball fan as there is in this forum. If you're going to be a real voice of reason, might I suggest you chide THE INQUISITOR for his constant posts in the White Sox Section or Scorehead for his "Cubs are Great" post in a topic about the failings of Robin Ventura.

The point being that I would think that last series would be sobering for Cub fans. Perhaps that's why they feel compelled to chirp about the admittedly horrible White Sox rather than confront the less than rosy reality of their own team. It distracts them from how far their team really is from what they keep insisting it will be.

You used to be the most clear-eyed baseball fan around here, but not any more. I don't really care what Inquisitor and Scorehead do as I expect them to do the whole fan boy stuff. But I expect more out of you. You are probably one of the most knowledgeable baseball guys around here, but over the last couple years you have went this direction way too much. It is not becoming of you. You don't need to sink to their level around here.

The reality for the Cubs right now is they are right in the middle of a playoff race. I am completely fine with that. Are they were I want them to be ultimately? No, they are not ready to play with the Cards. But they are a fun team to watch and I am happy to see some meaningful games this year. Will they make the playoffs? Who knows, but I will enjoy watching these young guys give it a shot.

I don't disagree that they are fun to watch. Certainly more fun than this brutal White Sox team. But I don't want to hear all this "right way" crap. There is no "right way' except winning.

It can't really be different for both teams, can it? I mean, for years the White Sox played pretty excellent baseball while the Cubs were just brutal and the Cub fan narrative was "all that matters is a championship; they're both losers", but now that philosophy seems to have changed and being okay but far worse than the Cardinals is suddenly not a loser. Don't be a phony. Championships aren't all that matter. Good baseball is more fun to watch than bad baseball and right now the Cubs play better baseball than the White Sox.

Since 1980 White Sox have made the playoffs 5 times. The Cubs 6 times.

Both franchises suck.

The majority of Sox teams from the early 90s to the mid-2000s were much better than the current Cubs team. So are you saying this Cub team sucks or is it #wearegood? I'm just trying to keep this shit straight.

But they're not equivalent in anyone on this board's lifetime. In most years the Sox have fielded competitive teams while the Cubs have floundered around near the bottom of the league/division.

By your "logic", both teams this season are equal. Neither one will make the playoffs. And that certainly isn't true. The Cubs are a competitive and watchable product, the Sox are horseshit.

I'd say they both have been pretty shitty overall, with one HUGE exception and we all know what that is.

the 1994 white sox most likely would've won the world series. the 2003 cubs could have handled the yankees if they hadn't...ah...yeah.

seeing as JR was one of the big reasons for the aborted season, Sox get zero credit for being good that year.

Cubs rookie hitters are getting figured out in terms of pitching and defensive alignment.

Kris Bryant's impossible .450+ BABIP in April has cooled to a simply unsustainable .350 in May/June.

Addison Russell's OPS has taken a hit as his BABIP has fallen from .380 to .320.

Both hitters are well-above league average for BABIP. Bryant's ability out leg out IF singles (a long last step) might keep him from falling much further. More likely Bryant's decline in OPS comes not from his batting average but from pitchers no longer pitching around him as much as they have been and giving him free passes.

As the Cubs rookies cycle through teams 2nd/3rd/4th+ times, Bryant et al will find line shots that were falling in during April/May early June are now being caught by defenders better aligned with pitch selection.

Always GREAT to hear from Mister #WINNOW #RELOAD... look at the overall MLB standings.... The Sox are in 27th place ahead of the Phillies, Marlins and Brewers...

Cubs are 11th overall....

You're a betting man... who has better playoff odds this year?

Care to make a wager.... I see you and the rest of The Iluminatti never took up BIGGIES future wager.

Take a stand who will be better the next 3 years Your beloved SOX or those woeful, dreadful Cubs?

Offer legitimate odds if you want to bet.

How about this? I'll bet the Cubs don't make the playoffs. You in?

And by the way, There's no such thing as "27th place". When the 2015 season is over the Cubs and Sox will both be teams that didn't make the playoffs. It may be time for TheoandJed to reload.

They're one and a half games closer to a division title than the Sox. And this is the worst Sox team in a long time. And yet, you're bullish on a Cub team that is nearly as far out of first. Theo conned you so hard you can't even see anymore.

And no, I won't take that bet. There's as much chance the Sox make the playoffs this year as the Cub do- ZERO. I'm not suggesting the Sox are a contender. But you're here all positive about the Cubs, so let's bet that.
