This is the old Sahara that has been renovated and a new tower added (LUX). One guy in our crew was sucked in by the fancy new shiny toy and here we are.

The place is not a dump, not trying to say its the Trop, or the Nugget or anything like that, they are in the midst of still being NEW and sending out tons of marketing deals to names they got from old casino host lists.

Its on the North end of the strip, just adds time and money to any Cab rides.

All the rooms are redone in modern IKEA...and REALLY small!!!! No drawers to put clothes away in.

They have 3 night clubs, the VIP Pool party thing going on, hip dining, etc. Actually felt sorry for older folks who got suckered in to come here. You see them slowly walk on to the elevator while the stoned LA gangbanger is rushing to get back to his room to see if he cant scrounge up $100 for a drink at the pool to impress some chick.

The place is for the LA posers, who dont have enough money to stay at the nicer places..so you will see the under 30 crowd here ..and while the place is new now...give it 2 years....it will be empty again.

So, if you are going .....(Hussra) and your crowd is in the under 35 group and you can get a good rate there, you should have a good time now....suck it up now, before the place becomes a ghost town...I am sure it will.

One more thing I didnt like, is the Sports book. Its the WILLIAM HILL company, who runs a teller window in the Unami Burger bar. So, 90% of the people are there to eat, and then you need to work around those eating if you just want a seat to watch....but for the record Unami serving a great Truffle oil burger, miso wings and some Ahi poke....all very good...but like the big comfy seats in most sports books

I haven't stayed at the Nugget in a long time, but it was far from a dump after Wynn took it over and renovated it. I'm sure it's gotten a little shopworn since then, but still probably the best place downtown. I'm not really a big fan of the Fremont Street Experience, but I do enjoy the gambling rates and the sleazy downtown vibe.

I'll stick with Caesars, Mirage, MGM & Bellagio.

Sounds like The Standard, hipster doofus hotel chain in Hollywood/downtown LA, early pioneers of the "shite room with sparse scandinavian furniture but we have a mermaid in a faux aquarium behind the check-in desk and a pool party scene". The Standard puts $1K hold on your cc per night. You could trash every item in the room and if they deducted the replacement cost from your $1K nightly deposit they'd still owe you $800.

back-waxing appt booked. as long as they have untethered gaggles of 21-35 yr girls, it's all good.

sounds perfect for the partially new to vegas crew i'm shepherding for the extended weekend/week. Their twitter feed has a "stay 2 nights, get the 3rd night free" special pinned since February. They prolly figure most of their clientele is rolling in Friday and rolling out Sunday regardless, so easier to just kick em the free night rather than deal with endless late checkout requests on Sundays.

I'd likely be the only one wagering on sports. The rest would be table games and casino floor action. Love me some truffle anything.

thanks for the 411. maybe i'll periscope a bit from this hotel/casino once there.
