Season series: Cubs 4-0.

Tuesday: 6:10 p.m., CSN.
RH Kyle Hendricks (2-4, 4.46) vs. LH Jonathon Niese (3-7, 4.12).

Wednesday: 6:10 p.m., WGN-9.
LH Jon Lester (4-6, 4.03) vs. RH Bartolo Colon (9-6, 4.89).

Thursday: 12:10 p.m., WGN-9.
RH Jake Arrieta (7-5, 2.94) vs. RH Jacob deGrom (8-5, 2.15).

The brutality continues. Mets sweep.

I hate Jon Lester.

Soler should be back after this series. I expect him to be better offensively than he was the last couple of months. It will help. It also allows the Cubs to platoon Coghlan and Denorfia back in LF. I like Szczur...but he should not be starting.

I expect a bounce back week for the Cubs. They will do well against Degram, it's guys like Colon that give the Cubs fits. No reason they can't mop the floor with the Marlins with Stanton out. I bought a couple bleacher tickets for the July 4th game but now I have to sell them.

It didn't go anywhere. In fact, it was highly evident. He sees more pitches and takes a higher percentage of walks this year than last.

The Mets home/road splits are crazy. The Mets are very good at home.

You're too old for analyzing and understanding the why's and how's behind baseball. It isn't your fault.

Let me be clear - I'm saying there has never been a better understanding of the game of baseball than there is now. There are metrics that are easily identified and applied toward players and situations that result in statements of fact, and not just opinions.

Jorge Soler has MORE plate discipline now than he had last year, and it is better than league average.

If you want to rip on Jorge Soler, find another angle.

He had fewer AB last year so how is that relative

wow the cubs are FK'N LUCKY to get niese/colon/degrom out of the mets' now-once-again-6-man-rotation, cuz i watched steven matz (home of 6 billion matz/metz/etc puns) make his mlb debut sunday (7.1IP 2ER [on solo HRs] ~5-6K / 3-3 4RBI) and that dude is a little motherfucker out there. he reminds me of fellow prospect lance mccullers, a guy who i've taken to calling "poisebot" out there on the mound.... except i think matz has better stuff and is of course left handed.

matz' arrival should make things interesting with THE INEVITABLE CUBS/METS TRADE at some point. if i were the mets i wouldn't touch the young core of my rotation going forward and i'd wanna start 2016 with a rotation of harvey/degrom/syndergaard/matz/wheeler because that is going to be a rotation that i'd take over the natinals' vaunted rotation (even with max scherzer being pitching jesus lately) every day of the fucking week. there's no gio gonzalez break in there.... hell your "crafty lefty" is steven fucking matz. and isnt degrom a lefty? sheeeeit even if not if you're gonna pull a whitesox rotation only righ righties you can do a lot worse than the righties the mets toss out there.

TLDR SERVICE FOR PPL WHO DONT WANNA READ MY BULLSHIT: the cubs catch the mets at just about the best possible time, even tho degrom is currently the hottest/bestest pitcher on the team. as IMU said the cubs owned the mets @ wrigley with only harvey offering a decent amount of token resistance to the cubs imposing their will on the vaunted(-by-me) mets pitching staff, so yeah with niese and colon there's 2 easy wins and then all the pressure in the world will be on degrom to break the streak, adn while he did that to end the mets' most recent 8-9 game slide with a 2-0 job in milwaukee or something (or maybe it was the start b4 that and the 2-0 in milwauklee was adding to a ~4 game winstreak?) trust me when i say that jacob degromssi junior high has plenty of experience losing 0-1 or 0-2 so i mean, he could even get revenge on the mighty mighty coo and show them that when he caught them the first time he was vulnerable, but since that cubs game he's had to have been one of the top-5 if not even top-3 pitchers in baseball. i wanna say the guy is ~#15-20 overall in fantasy right now? that includes hitters so c'est la fucking vie.

basiocally only the degrom game is appointment TV unless you're an every-game-cubs-fan..... and hopefully degrom has a lil something somethiong for the mighty mighty coo cuz holy shit does he owe them. i guess syndergaard will have to get his revenge in the playoffs..... of 2016/2017 =P

It is relative because we're talking about percentages.

There is a inarguable trend. Jorge Soler started as a patient big leaguer, and is getting more patient.

Don't forget the CFL season has started on ESPN2. Watched it last week. Henry Burris still playing at 40.

Don't go there jimmy! You've turned a corner somewhat this year. Don't go back and embrace old habits. The Cub are not better with Baxter in RF and they were not better with Hollandsworth in RF over Sosa.

Let's leave the Mike Murphy thoughts buried where they belong.

"I tell ya! This John Jaha is twice the ballplayer that Grace is."

"Micha Hoffpauir has never had the chance to fail at the Major League level."

"Give it to me Nate!"

Enjoy the new Cubdom jimmy. It's going to be one hell of a ride.

Bonus Murph musing....

"That Ron Artest never plays a lick of defense."

Even Babe Ruth had some down times. Seriously, I would think this was predictable for the young guns. Second time around the league. Teams can plan for them now pitching and defensively. Also, they will have to adjust themselves now. This isn't the minors anymore.

The young guns have been fine.

It's the lack of hitting in RISP. Cubs are 25th in MLB with 3.64 runners left in scoring position per game and 24th with a .232 average.
