This Cardinal series was hard on Cub fans. THE INQUISITOR is crying like he just saw a Pixar movie.

to be fair, BigFan balked at wagering on his Cubbies as well:

This Cubs/Sox thing is literally my least favorite thing about sports in this town. Lots of people show their ass as TB would say often.

Same. I don't care about the city rivalry. I have nothing against the Sox.

I'm sort of with JOR on this.....the Cubs could be the 2005/09 Indians..until this team goes deep in the playoffs Theos "plan" has not worked

Please detail how he has conned Cubs fans?

I can see ...and I see you blinded by your anti-Cub bias ...everything the Cubs have done is wrong...yet you still give them money when you buy tickets and go to Wrigley and I am sure you do not buy a $8.25 Bud or a $9 Goose Island while you are there....

ALL CUBS PROSPECTS FAIL .
Wrigley has lost it's appeal ..no one will go any more.
Ricketts is cheap.
Theo has conned everyone.
Jose Abreu is FAR SUPIEROR to Rizzo.

These are the core principals of The Illuminati and you as their leader should know them all by heart.

Now go back to your corner and watch the 2005 DVD or did you get it on betamax?
Be sure to put in your 8 track of "Don't Stop Believin" because #WINNOW #RELOAD is FAR SUPERIOR THE PLAN.

One of the better things I have read today was the comparison to the Indians. All those wins, all those studs, playoffs, world series appearance and all that. Titles=None. I know it is not all on this board but there are no guarantees with the Cub's plan. They might just be so fucking unlucky that the Astro's plan beats them in three straight WS? Its baseball.

Yep, can Cubs fans realistically hope the current team and prospects will turn out to be ANYTHING close to this 1996 juggernaut?:

C Sandy Alomar
1B Julio Franco
2B Carlos Baerga
SS Omar Vizquel
3B Jim Thome
LF Albert Belle
CF Kenny Lofton
RF Manny Ramirez
DH Eddie Murray

I suppose if they sign Price, and Lester gets his head out of his ass, they might have a better chance...but as you say, nothing is guaranteed in baseball.

Damn that lineup was something. I remember a old score guy named Pluto that was behind me at a game at the cell for that period. What a dude. No message boards then just Scoreheads.

For a second I thought that was some sort of White Sox team. Until I got down to Eddie Murray, I was like....wait....he never played for the Sox, did he?

Fucking White Sox. Why develop your own players when you can sign somebody else's trash?

OMFG! hey dude for what it's worht i just yelled out at the top of my lungs "HEY, RFDC'S OK WITH THE CUBS!!! PASS IT ON!!!" and one of my neighbors ~5 houses down the street just picked up on it and he's yelling it out at the top of his lungs, then i can faintly hear another guy 6-7 houses down yelling out the same thing.... so the message is already on it's way to tommy boy, theo, and of course leader of the players "dj riz" so pretty soon you just watch those cubbies of yours go out there and play with a weight lifted off of their shoulders cuz all this time they were winning ballgames and having disco parties after the games but after a few tunes when the novelty of the strobe lights and fog machines would start to wear off you'd see starlin castro sitting there all somber and dejected and when somebody asked him what was the matter he'd look at them with a tear in his eye and say "man this feels right.... this feels good.... it's like welly told us #WeAreGood.... but we don't know if RFDC is completely fine with this. what if he needs us to get another high draft pick or 2? who are we to think we can do this without RFDC on board?"

...to which a lampshade-wearing odoul's-pounding 3/4 naked kris bryant congo-lines-by and says JESUS STARLIN WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS THE THOUGHTFUL BUZZKILL OF THE PARTY? YOU NEED TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT RFDC AND LIVE A LITTLE BIT.... HEY I'VE GOT A HOT DATE TONIGHT WITH A LITTLE STUDLET NAMED "ERIC" TONIGHT SO HEY, THE BABE'S GOT A BABE LINED UP SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO OUT THERE AND LIVE A LITTLE BIT?

THE 2015 CHICAGO BASEBALL CUBS WOULD GO ON TO WIN 96 GAMES AND LOSE IN THE DIVISION SERIES TO THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS. RIP.

The fact is that if a guy's career is in the books and you could only look at a single stat, his W/L record is going to tell you more about him than any other single statistic including ERA or WHIP.

Take Wes Ferrell, for example. What do you think better defines his career, his .600 winning percentage or his 4.00 ERA or his 1.50 WHIP? The latter two numbers are high because of conditions. He pitched in the 30s at a time when an entire league batted .300. His W/L record shows you how he performed relative to his competition. It also gives you a pretty good idea about how many innings he gave his team.

It's like Sale. I love Sale and by no means do I want to diminish the really good season he's having. But you try to compare his strikeouts to Pedro or the Johnsons or Nolan Ryan, well, the context is different. Sale struck out twelve last night. Really strong. Amazing? Not as much when Lance Lynn and a bunch of guys most people never heard of struck out 14 in the same game.

The Sox aren't in a division with a team playing great at .680 clip.

The Sox also are not even close to the wild card while the Cubs are right in that race.

That is true when it comes to 28 of the 30 teams.

That's not true. What really happened was I read Scorehead piping about how much the Sox suck and how great the Cubs are/will be someday in a Robin Ventura thread.

The point is, how could a team that goes so long without being swept NOT be celebrated?

When is the parade? :D

Disagree JORR is clear eyed and fair 29 out of 30 times... he certainly isn't a FRANK (RIP) who thought everything his Sox did was better than anything the Cubs did.

Pretty sure the Cubs should be in the WC chase all season, but its funny that the AL worst White Sox had no problem beating the Cards two games in a row. And their DH didn't even bat 8th.
