LOL at the Kings. Gave Sixers right to swap to frist round picks and protected first to take on salary from them. Only guy I could see signing there is Rondo. Watch them severely over pay him to just sit around and cash checks for four year.

Quote:

Sixers will receive a protected 1st-round pick from the Kings, and swap rights w/ Sacto in the 1st round of two other drafts, sources say.

Sources: Kings trade Nik Stauskas, Carl Landry and Jason Thompson to 76ers in salary dump

The Sacramento Kings cleared about $16 million in salary-cap space on Wednesday night, unloading two significant contracts onto the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Kings traded forwards Carl Landry and Jason Thompson and 2014 No. 8 overall draft pick Nik Stauskas to the 76ers for the rights to overseas players and a future second-round draft pick, sources said.

The Kings will send the Sixers a protected future first-round draft pick as part of the deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Landry and Thompson each have two years and $13 million-plus left on their contracts.

The Kings had about $9 million of cap space before the trade, now giving them a total of about $25 million.

Sacramento wants to pursue several free agents with the space, including point guards Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis and shooting guard Wesley Matthews, sources said. The Indiana Pacers were meeting with Ellis on Wednesday in Indiana and working to reach a deal with him, league sources told Yahoo.

Stauskas, 21, is a young shooting guard who the 76ers targeted in the deal as the incentive to take on the Landry and Thompson contracts. Multiple teams had inquired about Stauskas, who had been the draft choice of the regime of deposed general manager Pete D'Alessandro and coach Michael Malone. Stauskas is still considered a good, young NBA prospect, and he'll get a broader opportunity to play with the Sixers.

Even with the max contract, I am asking because I truly don't know. I know I read where the cap is supposed to go up 45 million over the next 2 years, but it does give them a big man inside.

And I am good with that, the more I look at this, I really like it. He really is what the Bucks needed.

If the Bucks are healthy they may be the 2nd best team in the division.

Yep. The Bulls could possibly be 4th in the Central next season. Indiana will be better too.

Monroe probably more than Ellis. For those that tend to fixate on club house cancers Ellis is it. Golden State became better after canning him and Dallas wanted him gone also. Not the easiest guy to deal with and a selfish player on the court. Bad mix.

Milwaukee wanted him gone also, what a piece of shit.

I can remember when he tried to make a power play in Golden State. Said he and Curry couldn't play together even though they play different positions. Golden state correctly chose Curry and the rest is history.

He is right up there with my Gary Payton level of hate for short term Bucks players.

Aldrige flat out canceling on meeting with the Knicks have put those fans on tilt.

I'm not sure if it is more entertaining or sad to read the Knicks RealGM board. Fans crying about wasting another year of Melo's "Prime". Other fans pissed off they cant even tank due to Nuggets being able to swap picks next season

I was wrong. Knicks gave up their swap rights to Toronto in Bargnani deal so no pick next year.

But looks like Robin Lopez is on his way.

The fact that a team like the Heat has become part of the Aldridge sweepstakes should put to bed the notion that poor Garpax just can't do anything and have no flexibility.

He is not signing with Miami. They're just trying to be in the conversation in order for fans to get excited.
Also how much playoff success has LaMarcus Aldridge had anyway?

Also he and Chris Bosh are friends from their days in Dallas. Bosh actually wanted the Raptors to draft him instead of Bargnani. Bulls were not the only ones who missed.

Maybe he won't sign with them, but it clearly demonstrates the difference between a front office that will actually pursue the best free agent available and one that will be perpetually convinced that they have championship pieces in place no matter (despite Aldridge actually wanting to come here for the last 2 years). Then again, given how this is the same front office that already traded Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas, perhaps having him around would cause too much trauma for Paxson.

No it wouldn't. The Bulls pursuit of Anthony was legit.

GarPax made the best free agent signing of last yr. It also was a move that many of the people here disapproved of. Let's not forget that.

I think it's pretty charitable to regard Gasol as the best free agent signing of last year, but even so, as you acknowledge, it was sloppy seconds for the front office rather than who they actually wanted but failed to attain. So perhaps I was unfair in characterizing them as being perpetually convinced they have all the necessary pieces. That's simply the spin they have to present when whatever big moves they do want to pursue fail to come off.

Then again, who am I kidding? The Bulls have Dunleavy locked down for the next 3 years and the biggest offseason signing of all in "The Mayor." Add some inevitable unprecedented improvements on the part of Snell and McDermott and you have a team ready to win now.

Which signing was better than Gasol? I don't count James.
Paxson was roundly criticized here for signing Gasol. A simple bumping of that thread would bare that out.

The Bulls don't have the cap room to acquire Aldridge. Their problem is that Derrick Rose has been injured for over 3 seasons now. I'm wondering how his injuries are Paxson's fault.

LaMarcus Aldridge is 30 yrs old now and his teams have not fared any better playoff wise than Carmelo Anthony's yet he is a guy the Bulls should acquire? He also has benefitted from having better talent as teammates.

Hoiberg may turnout to be the Bulls most significant move as Kerr turned out to be Golden State's most significant move last yr. I'm not saying that he will have the same success but I believe he is an improvement over Thibs.
