"We've been patient for a long time now,'' White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams told USA TODAY Sports. "But then you look at us, and you say, wait a minute, this team will only be held down for so long.

"We're still in the evaluating phase and it will be a collaborative effort on which direction we want to go.''

Yet, no matter what happens with Samardzija, who's being strongly pursued by the Toronto Blue Jays, Williams insists there won't be a teardown. This is Year 1 of their 3-year plan, Williams says, and he and GM Rick Hahn refuse to believe that their massive winter overhaul was a bust.

"It's important that we not lose sight of what our organization goal was,'' Williams said, "and that was to give us the best three-year window. And we're not going to abandon that completely with only three months to play.

"I think (Hahn's) done one hell of a job. Everyone wants to put the blame on (manager) Robin (Ventura), too, but all he can do is put the players in position to succeed. They're the ones who have to look in the mirror and execute.

"If we do anything, it will be consistent with trying to maximize this three-year plan or window that we set out originally.''

Bulletproof Kenny. He picked the produce. It's their fault he bought them past expiration.

The Sox do have some pitching which can take part in turning things around relatively quickly. That offense and defense though, yikes.

If you get rid of Alexei Ramirez things will immediately improve.

latest news is KW is still in play for the Blue Jays job.

I ASSUME some of these bums are still on the roster on the 1000-1 chance they catch fire and they can trade them for something:

Ramirez
Gilespy
Danks

Put larry garcia at short, beckham at 3B. At least shore up the defense.

Which he would have if he asked to go....it's just an example of what a fucking idiot Kenny is and what an ego the guy has....he knows Reinsdorf. Did he think talking to Toronto first was a smart move, if he really wanted to go? and seeing that he did talk to Toronto...was that part of the 3 year Window??? When you make up bullshit and lie, shit gets crossed up Kenny.

I have no idea how this guy survived the Kenny-Ozzie feud. Any decent corporate structure would have resulted in both being fired.

It's frightening to think that KW is going to be in charge of any kind of sell off in the next month. He routinely overpayed for others and undersold his own. They will end up getting a bag of balls for Shark.

I hated him even as he was winning a World Series. I know 2005 worked, but looking back on the pre season trades, I still would say KW didn't get good value.

Kenny got incredibly lucky with pitching in 2005. He has missed more than he's hit. I'd love nothing more than for this Blue Jays thing to work out.

Scott Merkin on with Spiegs and Someone, claiming the 3 year plan has ALWAYS BEEN VERY CLEAR....been expressed "MANY MANY" times.....

The new KC Johnson!

I guess all you Sox fans have missed the 3 YEAR PLAN....

So, are we in Year 1 , 2 or 4 of the 3 year plan?

Nope. I was here for it all.

But regardless of his success, do you really want to be the guy who says that you cannot evaluate major league talent / be in charge of major league personnel unless you played major league baseball? Is that your stance?

It was therefore necessary to rewrite a paragraph of Big Brother Kenny's speech, in such a way as to make him predict the thing that had actually happened. Or again, 'The Sun Times' of the nineteenth of December had published the official marginal values of the contracts of the team's pitchers and position players in the fourth quarter of 2014, which was also the sixth quarter of Kenny’s Second Three-Year Plan.

Today's issue contained a statement of the actual returns on said value, from which it appeared that the forecasts were, in every instance, grossly wrong. Rick Hahn's job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones.

As short a time ago as February, the Ministry of Jerry had issued a promise (an "organizational pledge" were the official words) that there would be no reduction of the payroll during 2015. Actually, as Hahn was aware, the payroll was set to be reduced from over $110 million to roughly $90-$100 million by the end of the trading deadline. All that was needed was to substitute for the original promise a warning that it would probably be necessary to reduce the ration at some time in July.

read in the paper over the weekend that Hahn said, after the international signing period, that the Sox have waves of talent now

I'm confused. You insult Kenny's trading skills, but then you say that he will be able to get a bag of balls for Shark. Which is it?

so they had sportsvision in Romper Room?

I will spell it out for you. NONE of them have proven to be effective at evaluating talent. But ONE of them was a highly successful major league baseball player.

Kenny Williams won a World Series. It's interesting to hear the revisionism as to how he won that World Series. Of all the people involved in the process he has always received the least amount of credit. He has done a decent job as GM.

Are these moves his or Rick Hahn's? Something tells me if they get this thing turned around he will once again receive little in the way of credit. If they don't he will get most of the blame.

Biggie will be the first in line giving Kenny all of the credit, just jump in line behind him.

Well, he loves to take the credit, so he has to face the blame. He wants to put Abreu on his resume but stick Cabrera on Hahn's.

One has little to nothing to do with the other. There have been countless good players that were bad managers and front office execs, and there have been great managers and front office execs that never played affiliated ball.

"Ventura sucks at managing but at least he was a good player in the 90's!"

How does that help your organization in 2015.

You could probably manage the game better than Robin.

Just because a guy could smack a couple homers in 1993 doesn't mean that he's a great manager or teacher of the game.
