Wrong.

How about any of the 57 state boys BB campions? I think even the 57 losers beat any WNBA team.

I'm gonna still say no.

But are you saying the best of the all-time state champs might be able to beat the worst of the WNBA teams ever?

That's different than what conns is saying. But still no.

They mop the floor with them. I think you need to go to bed.

Thats a bad thought.

They are not athletic enough. They would struggle get a good shot off, struggle to break a press etc. Hell Pat Summit used to get five guys from the rec center to scrimmage her starters at Tennessee.

The most elite female athletes in the world have times, verticals, similar to good high school boy athletes.

Yep. That's what all the women's programs do

And the girls win. That's common. Because you can't scrimmage against five girls from the rec center.

You are way off on this this. WNBA is NOT some small-time catholic school program.

Put it this way:

Put together an "All Star" team of CSFMB members. We get to play 2 games. Do we have a better chance of beating a

1. "good" high school boys team
-or-
2. Any WNBA team

You're insane if you say #2.

You clearly have not played against a good girls team.

Leave the CSFMB out if this. Could a good HS boys team beat a WNBA team is the question. I would wager any top five IL team over the last 25 years would give any WNBA team more than a run for it's money.

How many 'good' girls teams have you played against?

I wouldn't put Reason on it either.

Is it fair to compare men and women at that age/style of play? My husband had some of the finals on and at times I don't think they were playing basketball.

No one said girls couldn't play sports. Girls play sports everyday. They just don't play them to the level of boys. As a father of two girls who both play sports, I don't see that as a controversial statement. Sorry, it's a fact.

I've played against a "good" NCAA team. With good men's teammates. Those girls could play. We lost.

At NIU, I was on the scrimmage mens team, not a starter, but trust me , I could hold my own back then against those ladies...I was on the team that scrimmaged against NIU women.

We could hang...hell, we would beat a 'good' HS team. I did it every year against incoming freshman. We could not beat NIU Women's team. And NIU women's team is nowhere near any WNBA team. Not close.

I'll wait for BigFan to chime in on this, but let's just say this, I've played against conns.........he can't slap his own butt with 2 hands. I know...he "coached" a private school something or other...

17 year old "good" boys cannot beat a WNBA team.

I get you, but you were not a team. You were just a bunch of guys playing ball against a team. I think there is a difference. You take a good group of HS boys who have played together I think they would hold their own against them and whop the shit outta you. You think Rose's HS teams would have lost to your rag tag group of chumps? I think any WNBA team would more than have their hands full when it comes to an elite HS boys team. That's all I'm saying.

I turned the game on after about 20 minutes and kept staring at the score, thinking I was seeing things. It was 4-0 at that point. It was exciting to watch and congrats to the ladies.

This is an interesting discussion. Ultimately, women cannot compete physically against men. 25 year old women are still overmatched vs. 17 year old men. That's just nature. But skill level is a different matter. If you watch women's basketball, many players are more skilled in certain areas than even the most lauded men's players. It isn't difficult to find women who can shoot better than Derrick Rose. Whether they could do so consistently with a bigger stronger man in their face becomes the argument.

You watch that soccer game yesterday, some of those women have amazing foot skills, certainly the equal of elite men. But they just couldn't compete on strength and speed over the course of a game.

I agree, the skills are there but the lack of speed is noticeable.

On a different note, towards the end of the game, the camera went on a U.S player with noticeably erect nipples and than shifted right away.....I mean C'MON!

For sake of argument I'll define "good" as a Sun-Times top 25 team.

i watched EPL on nbcsn on saturday mornings this season and I think watching good soccer ruined watching women's soccer. I remember watching pretty much every game during the 1999 cup and being entertained by the ladies... but i turned on the game last night and it felt like watching the WNBA.... slow... slow.... bad. I blame this on watching good mens soccer... just like watching nba basketball makes the WNBA look like shit in comparison.

tl;dr - womens sports are terrible to watch...

A top HS boys team, especially if they have size, would beat a WNBA team easily. How are the women going to get off shots with tall, lanky dudes in their grills? If the boys have one guy who can post up, it's over. How is a woman going to stop a 6' 8" wang whipper, when he is backing her down?

The final did silly ratings, 15.2 which is on par with College Football Playoff games.

Means nothing, but a fun note at least.

That pretty much sums it up. Throw in a quick guard with some skills and it's good night nurse.
