...you have to make less than $35k per year. I can see the abuse of this being rampant.

abuse to what end...to get a bike ride?

I suppose it'd be harder to enforce the 30min time limit since they couldn't auto-deduct from credit cards.

I thought the incentive to bike lanes, subsidizing divvy was to help the environment

People making less than 35K are more likely to use public transportation as their alternative. Wouldn't it be better to offer the $5 pass to the rich it you wanted to achieve your stated goal?

Remember, red light cameras are for safety

I think they view Divvy as a form of public transportation. It's a nice alternative to a short bus ride (when the bus is stuck in traffic and/or never arriving).

Plus train service is really poor on the south side, so this could replace more car rides than you'd think.

Yes, when I mentioned abuse, I was actually thinking the "rich" (making more than 35k) would abuse it, by getting a friend or unemployed relative to sign up.

The incentives for public transportation and biking are really screwed up. They cut the tax benefit for public transportation to $130 per month but raised the parking lot benefit to $245. You'd think they would do the opposite if they wanted less driving.

Wait a second..."Rich" is making more than $35K annually now?

And f you look, about 75% of the Divvy locations are within a few blocks of Wrigley...

This is an example of something they could have just offered on the website, with the city, etc....no need to try and get some PR out of it...

of course I own a bike....plus I make over 35K....and I consume Grey Poupon.....1%er!!!!!!!!
