Banks are living on the last few Euros they have and they are about to leave the EU. The world isnt going to stop, but its an unprecedented event in modern history. Almost a collapse of a system in one country....that wasnt regarded as a 3rd world country.

Great to watch....

I sold the Euro short once it broke 1.10, could be a huge play for those playing..

Almost all my trades are +1 locked in when some profit exists. Unless I plan to sit and watch a trade the whole time.

Greece is waiting until their banks have no money and 1 second is left on the clock before they make their final proposal....I guess.

The creditors cannot give in to Greece without opening up a huge can of worms for the other EU countries. If Greece is rewarded for its bad behavior, the others will feel like suckers and start demanding their own concessions.
I think if they kick Greece out, the Euro rallies to 1.20.

That Greek popular vote was the most obvious outcome ever. I would have thought that it was built into the market already. If you know anything about human nature, and the Greeks in particular, you know they would send a big FU to the rest of Europe. I would've voted the same way.

High stakes poker between the Greeks and Merkel.

Longer term, yes...it rises...the immediate rally effect could go either way

I'm right there with you.

Anyone who is a major money manager and thought that Greece would do otherwise needs a reality check ASAP.

The Greeks are betting that they don't have the stones to throw them out.

So far it looks like they are right.

Gotta love the Greeks...after giving themselves a self-imposed week-long timeout to run the referendum, the new finance minister shows up to the emergency meeting in Brussels with some notes scribbled on a cocktail napkin.

They arent going to meetings to propose any solutions, they are going to hear what everyrone else is proposing for them to do to get out of this mess....however, everyone else is attending the meetings waiting to hear what they have to say.

Waiting for something like....

HERE ARE OUR DEMANDS.

1. Delay payments to EU for 2 Years, starting January 1, 2016. We will sign an IOU...TODAY!
2. We will make a $1 Bill payment to the EU on November 1, 2015
3. We will require a $2 Bill loan by the ECB by the end of this month.
4. Could you lend us $5000.00 today, to get home.

So bigfan you're saying that Greece is kind of like Larry Buckman?

If Larry is broke, has borrowed money from you mutiple times and never paid it back...and still thinks you should help him out, even though he doesnt intend to make any changes in his life to be able to pay you back...then YES>

more like giving Larry the homeless guy a $1000 loan and then being pissed when you don't get paid back.

I think they will actually put forth a workable and realistic deal tomorrow....but the issue is what collateral do they have to do anything? The Land?

The basically already sold Cyprus to the Russian mob, so now they are going to promise to repay this new "restructure" with what? and at the same time...the EU is going to have to accept it if it really the best Greece can do....

Spain, France and Portugal...they arent that far behind this mess....but they are a much bigger % of the EU....and that could cause some huge shit...

I don't follow the global market much, but am finding this very interesting.

If one country the size and impact of Greece in the EU can basically do what they've done and the EU still keeps / backs them, then the EU must be weaker than it appears.

Agree on the earlier post about the precedent this could set for bigger, more impactful countries. Common sense would be to let them crash and burn on their own...something is keeping that from happening.

I tend to agree on letting them crash and burn. I would guess it is pride in the EU main players. Or it could be they do not want Putin to come in give them a ton of money and exert pressure. IDK.

There has to be a much bigger, underlying story we don't know about. Greece has no leverage. They shit the bed. They aren't worth the sweat off the EUs balls but they're going out of their way to keep them. Something stinks.
