These guys are killing the Cubs offensively and actually defensively too at 2nd and SS at least .
If they desire to make the playoffs,I would rotate resting 1 or 2 of these 3 every day. To have these 3 guys batting on the same day is killing the Cubs. Who else can they play? ANYONE ELSE!

Herrera has been really good when called upon....not saying he is an answer, but LaStella will get another look very soon.

Not concerned about Russell long term, but if you can upgrade at any position, even a small amount you do it...without cashing in your future chips...

And Baez will get another shot...thats for sure....I am not resting any hopes there....but he will get a second chance.

Castro and Fowler can go away anytime. I'm not ready to give up on Russell. He's been solid at second, a position he's learning at the major league level, btw. Give him some time.

I understand the frustration with Castro and I have no great love for Fowler, he can leave anytime.

However, anyone that is ready to give up on Russell is just an idiot.

We're not short on idiots. However, no honest baseball fan would be willing to give up on Russell at this point. He certainly isn't the cause of this anemic Cub offense. He's 21 hrs old and in the process of finding his baseball legs.

I am pretty sure jimmy would trade Russell for Keppinger in a heartbeat

I always cut Lazarus some slack when it comes to the Cub. He's been suffering even longer than I have.

This is how you know its getting harder and harder for jimmy to dislike the Cubs.

No doubt Fowler is the guy who needs to pick it up and just get close to career average,...all his other numbers are right on pace...some even ahead of pace...but his average has taken a hit. I wouldnt even be calling for him to get back to his average if he was a 35 year old, but he is 29...should still be right there...so, I am looking for a better half from him.

I'm willing to give him the second half. I only wish he was playing close to his historical averages, so they might be able to flip him for something.

Numbers are like your brother in law, they lie when they need to...or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

They might...he may have had great second halves on shit teams when it didnt matter...and his AB's seems to be low...but if he is going to attain that 266 career BA number...he is gonna need a nice second half....

As long as he continues to flail away at most everything thrown at him, I don't see that happening.

As disappointing as the Cubs are at times I will take this season so far over the last few years of pure shit baseball. Castro can go away anytime and screw Pedro Strope. Interesting how Jake went 9 today so cock hat did not get a chance to blow it again.

No way do I want to get rid of Russell. All I'm saying is maybe some days off here and there might help his hitting eye.

I can't argue with that, Lazarus. I guess we will see how good hipster Maddon is with the youngsters. Maybe he can bring Spongebob into the flu should to make Russell feel comfortable

People need to calm down. The Cubs may earn a wild card this season, but they are not ready to contend yet for a title. This season is about experience and growth. Arietta, Hammell and Hendricks have never thrown 200 innings. Bryant, Russell and Soler will play more games than they ever have, against pitching they need to make adjustments to. Schwarber will be back up in August and gain some experience too, which will be of some value. I hope they make the playoffs and win their 1 game play-in game, so they can have some real playoff experience as well. But next year is when true contention begins. Russell is a cornerstone, along with Bryant, Rizzo and Arietta.

His era was 2.6 before that STL outing.

What weird anger.

Serious question. Were you the guy that called Wake and Bake on Saturday morning suggesting that Epstein and Maddon needed to go because Maddon insists on batting the pitcher 8th?

the old time Cubs fans that hate "cock hat" but loved Turk Wendell and Mitch Williams can go away.

It's just the racists that hate him.

Anything change about this "triangle" since I posted it? I think the CF has hit a little but the 2nd sacker & SS are not helping. There has to be a better hitter than these 3 in the minors or waiver wire.
