The softball league I have coached in the last few years still gives us a bag of equipment. It would have a few bats that no one used, some catcher gear, a few batting helmets that no one used and some balls. I have tried to tell them the bats and helmets are a waste but they keep putting them in there

I agree with you douchebag on the bats. I do understand the helmet thing tho. I have bought helmets for my girls. I have bought one bat for my girls and that was only because it was on sale for $5

Also, I know we have re-sale things around after the season is over for kids moving up to buy the bats at much cheaper prices, granted they are used. Also, I have given away all of my kids bats he used to people that are less fortunate, just the right thing to do in my mind.

Thank God we haven't had the lice...but from others I've heard from, just about anything is worth avoiding that. Back when we were kids, they just sprayed us with RAID and that killed the lice. OBAMA sez we can't do that anymore and there's pretty much nothing that kills them.

i coach a church league softball team and these once a week hacks are all about getting their own bats. None of them understand that 10 bats with 100 swings on them aren't going to be effective as 2 or 3 bats with 500 swings on them.

guy last week brought a new bat, and everyone was like ooooooo and half the guys swung it, it was a log, and they all sucked. it also said easton so they all had the easton boner going. So it doesn't stop once they get older.

Actually the helmet thing is the one thing I have no problem with, the lice can be a problem.

I changed my mind on this when a lil girl was on our team that had an awful case of lice. The mother was a druggie and refused to take care of the girl. At times you could literally see the lice running thru her hair. Helmets for my daughters after that. I felt really bad for the girl, she was a sweetheart and I wanted to bring her home with us

All the kids on our tee ball team had their own bats, helmets and equipment bags, but it was mostly the same bat. A black and yellow Easton, or a black and orange Adidas. The one kid whose father drives an AMG Mercedes SUV that I think costs like $150k had this ferkakta generic "Cubs" bat that appeared to be a giveaway circa the Jim Lefebrve era. He was one of the better hitters though his helmet looked to be adult size so it would end up covering his face any time he ran. That was a life lesson.

In terms of gear, baseball is a pretty reasonable sport. Helmet, cleats, glove, and bat. The uniforms come with the league fee. Nothing beats basketball in terms of value, but it is a heck of a lot better than hockey or golf.
