Are you familiar with anything that the United States has done post WWII that may have caused conflict in that part of the world? I am and I will list it as soon as you respond.

Yeah I am. If you read what I post I am always advocating abandoning that part of the world for several reasons, the first being it is too fucked up to fix as one side will not even allow the existence of the other as a bargaining point.

It is being done right now over in Europe , France, England and Germany. Scandinavia to a lesser extent.

As you have not answered I will provide you with a few things that may have caused conflict.

1. U.S. support both financially and militarily for the creation of Israel.

2. U.S. backed coup de tat which led to the overthrow of Mossadegh and the installation of the pro U.S. Shah of Iran.

3. Financial and military support of the Shah. Shah later uses the money to install the Savak.

4. Support of the repressive and corrupt Saudi Arabian monarchy. Saudi Arabian monarchy is one of the leading sponsors of terrorism. They are also among the worst of the world's human rights violators.

5. Invasion of Iraq.

6. Drone strikes which often kill innocent people in that part of the world.

More can be provided. This has more to do with the current situation than that event you are referring to.

Religion is a part of it but if we keep focusing on that we are missing the larger portion which is political.

Well clearly nothing is more American than following the lead of Europe.

let me make sure I have this straight. We don't want to be like these countries when it comes to providing health care to all our citizens and we don't want to be like them when it comes to workers rights but we do want to be like them when it comes to kicking citizens out of the country based upon religion. Makes me proud to be an American.

There are a number of Muslims and Muslim countries that really have no problem with the United States. Indonesia has more Muslims than any country on Earth. Shouldn't we be beefing with them if it's really about Muslims?

I didn't become a fan until after they moved to Pittsburgh to be honest. Loved Dave Parker.

Islamic fanaticism is a problem but the United States Govt. has to seriously consider how some of their policies have impacted that part of the world.
U.S. policies in that part of the world has contributed to a lot of the antipathy. It doesn't account for everything and it's not meant to excuse the actions of Muslims because their actions have been deplorable also.

Dude ,that shit been going on for far longer than this country been around. Look up the Barbary Pirates. This country used to have a history of standing up to these asshats, now not so much.

It has but The U.S. was never involved. They have to sort out their own society. The United States really didn't become interested on that part of the world until after the World War. We all know the reason too.

Never, once again Look up the Barbary Pirates, the first War we had as a nation. It is immortalized in the fucking Marine Corps Hymn you retard. We where not involved with most of the world till after WW2 because we where isolationist and would have stayed that way if FDR and his Trilat brethren did not force us into the world stage.

I will do a little research on the Barbary Pirates. I strongly doubt that it has much to do with the current situation. This is a stretch to suggest that hostilities between Muslims and Americans are directly related to this. Has there even been propaganda related to this? I've read a number of books on the Middle East and I have never read anything which states that this is the reason for the hostilities.

Some bit of obscure trivia that got stuck in me melon from years past is that Doug McClure was the record holder at some point for being in most the cancelled tv series .

If The Crusades are out of play, so are the Barbary Pirates. We are talking hundreds of years ago.

So I've been reading that investigators and the Federal Government are having a really, really tough time figuring out the shooter's motives....like, they've hit a total brick wall and dead end.

They sure are stumped....

Sure. But I don't see it as a matter of individuals. It's the collective as an institution that becomes the problem. Really no different than the way Christianity is entwined to some degree with government here in the U.S. The difference being that most people I know who identify as Christians don't really believe most of what the Bible says and take it literally. I mean, our highest court just legalized gay marriage. In Muslim countries homosexuals are being stoned and dropped from buildings.

If you walk through my neighborhood you'll see many women in full burqa. Maybe some of those women would say that's their "choice". But that's bullshit. And besides that, we shame people for their choices all the time. Just like we- as a society- are shaming people for waving Confederate flags right now. And rightfully so.

A "moderate" Muslim is a Muslim who lives in a place where Islam is not a political power. If Muslims ran Downers Grove you'd be wearing at least a head scarf and maybe a full body covering.

that would be an upgrade for Downers Grove
