I lean more towards the actors. Mcconaughey and Harrelson were both built for that type of weirdness. It works with them.

Very few actors (least of all fucking Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams) can do that stuff.

Christopher Walken would be good (15 years ago)

I saw a theory that Vince Vaughn's alter ego is the killer. That would be hilarious.

I don't know why they make that bar to be some David Lynch purgatory type place. That would work if this were some kind of paranormal drama like last year but other than the masks, this is a straight up crime drama. I don't need the woman with the bruised knees or Conway Twitty impersonator acting like a Greek chorus for THIS show.

UNLESS...the people in the bar are all dead and don't know it...nah, that's not even a good, fun theory.

I'm going to start thinking about a bar theory on this show though. The opening scene is in the bar. Most of Vaughn's relationship with Farrell is in the bar. Vaughn was desperate to get out of bar ownership but has been pulled back in to the detriment of all other aspects of his life. Getting out of the bar is salvation.

It would be fitting , considering this seasons suckfest.

I believe its Taylor Kitsch alter ego...the way he stumbled upon the body..late night driving in a trance on his bike.

Waking up with his boxers on backwards with little recollection. Who else would shoot a cop with a shotty and intentionally not kill him.

It was an athletic guy who burned the caddy n ran from Ferrell n McAdams. Vaughn's lazy ass couldn't move like that .

They Killed this show! Who can drink and brood more between the main characters. Who can show the darkest side! Who can have the worst past?

not even sure I finish the season....the Ballers and Brink arent great either, but I will turn it on.

Last night was the best episode yet. Vaughn's character is just ridiculous. It's gotten fun to watch.

not sure where they are going with that character...."Why dont you go stand in front of a tank?"...and his other insults just suck....they are terrible one liners..

I think he is approaching fun bad....everything is a weak attempt at a memorable line like its Batman returns. "Then you're gonna love me"

There are few moments that show any character as a semi normal person, thus 57 minutes of going from sscene to scene of someone drinking with a scowl on their face and staring someone down, then a one liner is thrown at them....kinda starting to really suck.

....and does Vince have any other clothes than a black sport jacket, black pants and a black shirt?

"It's like blue balls, in your heart." That line is unintentional comedy gold.

I am enjoying that there was a passage of time after last episodes big shoostout. Since it seems one can only comment negatively on this show, I will say there is too much story packed into this season.

Gonna be a wild finish with only three episodes left.

I was surprised how much had changed between episode 4 and 5. The motorcycle cop's mom is a really weird trailer park lady. The show is just ok. Too many characters, which dilutes your feelings for any individual.

Vince Vaugh's wife does as well, although she advised him to do it himself.

This season is great. I only see the board IDIOTS putting this show down.

"IF" that one poor attempt at an insult was the stand alone attempt at showing how foolish he was....sure, but its one after the next....makes his character less than intriguing...The "Dumb Crime Boss" not exactly the great character for this series...however, might make a solid comedy.

I liked when he called the Johnny Depp looking Mexican guy Cisco Kid and the Chinese guy Khe San.

The Cisco Kid makes the 'Stand in front of a tank insult" look brilliant.

There is no foreshadowing in this show, there is no thought, this was such a mismosh of crap. Sure some of it is going to mean something and connect the dots, but the characters all suck. They are basically the same. I need to turn up the volume on my TV to hear the 4 words they each spit out.

....and I dont HATE the show, its got some killing, some gangsters, some drugs, money, sex...but at this point it is no better than a 4 episode mini series of Miami Vice that is TO BE CONTINUED...

Why are we supposed to care if Vince Vaughn is able to become a legitimate businessman or not? His pending "legitimacy" would be a product of his past "illegitimacy" anyway, so is there anything really at stake here?

Why are we supposed to care who killed Caspar? One corrupt insider has been replaced by other corrupt insiders. Does his death matter from a narrative perspective?

This show presents unsolved crimes but lacks real mystery.

I agree with the Vaughn thoughts. He's not going to escape his past. Even when he was going legit, he was still trying to milk cost overrun government contracts. He was going to leech off the government trough.

I like that we have two limp guys in one mini series. How does Vaughn struggle to rise with that wife? At least he took pliers to gold teeth, Santos.

The Cisco kid line was funny. There are definitely some nuggets.

I feel like that character was dressed that way JUST for that line though.

It's gimmicky. When you have a guy with a shot gun loaded with rubber bullets, you are willing to test the line of believability. If the Rambling Grimace showed up, I wouldn't be shocked.

The way back and seven psychopaths were great . He's clearly the lone bright spot in this weak show...I haven't watched the latest episode ..I'm sure I will eventually.

Yup, it was too obvious, too easy...only THE IDIOTS enjoyed it. He even stood there for 5 seconds giving Vaughn extra time to think of something..I guess thats the hidden humor in the show???

Going away from the gripes about the actors in this season, I'm having a problem with the actual "mystery" element of this season as compared to last. I'm not sure I care who killed the city manager because the only person that really cares that he's dead is frank, and I don't give a shit about impotent frank and his smashed basement rats.

I agree with what others are saying about there being too many characters. Clearly this show is trying very very hard to make some kind of over-arching statement about masculinity by having one impotent character, one character fighting to raise a son that isn't his, a self-loathing closet case (who incidentally is the only male character who has been able to father a child), and a woman that drapes herself in a cloak of masculinity, but I don't care about that shit because I'm not being told/shown why any of that matters in the overall context of the story.
