since in all other levels of nature the fittest are the ones who dominate everything below them, are we really being smart by sending out signals to notify potential predators?

this of course is based on the assumption that aliens exist, but if you look at things from a pure mathematical perspective there couldnt be a safer bet. by the numbers alone, aliens must exist... and knowing we are really only a couple hundred years into our own "intelligent" age, what would the chances be that we find a species that ISNT more advanced than we are? are we really just zebras in the open pasture holding up bloody fish asking the lions to come after us?

good thing is i doubt we will have to worry about it in our lifetime. we have already been sending out 'smoke signals' through radio and televison waves... but that has only been going on at the speed of light for ~100 years. our own galaxy is 100,000 light years across... so the footprint we now have manmade radio waves covering is only 200 lightyears across... and the closest next galaxy is like 25,000 light years away... and the closest 'major' galaxy is 2.5 million light years away. phew, because that means even if the universe is TEAMING with life, they might not even know we are here for a very long time.

best part is, with the couple galaxy neighbors i just mentioned, there are BILLIONS more of them out there. the only way we could possibly communicate with intelligent life is if we figure out a form of communication that defies the laws of the physics that we know.... which is something else that has held true for almost 100 years and so far nobody has many ideas to crack it.

One should figure that if another intelligent species managed to become advanced enough to receive our signals and travel here then they survived their own technological advances and therefore would probably be peaceful.

Course that's nothing more than a guess. But would stand to reason that a civilization that old and that advanced survived itself and therefore would be less than aggressive.

The dominant species is almost always hostile and aggressive. If we found alien life we would definitely try to bring it back to our planet and dissect it so we could learn more about it.

Only low intelligent life. Naturally we don't know for sure how another species that we might be able to communicate intelligently would do. One may imagine that a species intelligent enough to travel across light years may have enough empathy for others so as not to harm them.


I'm not so sure. We don't really do that now... I mean, we tag sharks and try to follow them without harming them. Our species now has evolved enough not to kill and dissect other forms of life we encounter, rather, we try to study them in their natural habitat. Of course we may dissect dead specimens we find. Even ourselves. But if we discovered sentient life elsewhere in the universe I doubt we'd go running in like Sherman thru Atlanta.

look at what we do to mosquitoes. were dominant to them, and we dont need them, so we kill them. we actually spend a lot of time trying to find a way to eradicate them.

Hawking's opinion is that the great motivator to move, en masse, from a home planet would be its destruction. If this were true, the aliens we find would be looking to colonize out of necessity and not be a benevolent explorer.

His opinion on this is no more correct than yours.

what if einstein was right though? NOTHING can travel faster than light. and since we cant even travel a tiny fraction of that speed, theres a good chance that even if aliens do "find" us it will be thousands of years from now and they will only be able to see us through telescopes... an image of what we were before we all killed ourselves thousands of years from now....

the only chance that we know of to communicate with aliens would be wormholes, and while we believe they are physically possible, its still impossible for us to even try to make one.

We know that gravity compresses the fabric of space time. You don't really travel toward an object. The idea is to compress the space between you and an object and travel a short distance to something light years away.

Cmon man , don't play dumb ..you are an intelligent man . I've never seen one or their aircrafts ...But millions of credible people have ... I know 4 people who have seen alien aircraft and one person who's had an encounter ..One of the four saw the craft at O'Hare ..it fucked flights up for an hour ..she's a stewardess ... The girl who had an encounter grew up in Pennsylvania ..her cousin had an encounter too ..she's very successful n doesn't do drugs ... She's not crazy ... Its like ghosts ..they exist , I've never seen one n don't want to ...but lotsa people I know that are very credible have had interactions .
