This looks outstanding. Could be better than season 1 based on the trailer. Very cool. I like that they went back in time.

Is this connected to season 1? I didn't watch season 1, but would like to watch season 2 because I've heard such good things about the show.

I believe this is a prequel of sorts set in the 1970s and the main character is the female cop from Season 1's father. There was a case that he makes mention of in season
1 and that is what season 2 is about from what I know.

From Wikipedia: The season takes place in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota. It features state police officer Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson), who has just returned from Vietnam, investigating a crime involving a local gang and crime syndicate, and being assigned to protect then-Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan during his campaign stop in Fargo.

I highly recommend that you watch season 1.

It was excellent.

A reminder to all that this kicks off October 12th. Reviews have been solid thus far.

Not sold on this cast but I didn't care for Colin Hanks and Martin Freeman and I thought they both were great in season 1.

i think part of the allure to me is seeing how seemingly miscast actors fit in to the roles. i was incredibly impressed with last season. martin freeman was outstanding.

Season 1 was great but I've got my doubts on the cast of this season. While Colin Hanks is a shitty actor, he was pretty decent in Fargo but this cast looks bad.

Kirsten Dunst - bad
Brad Garrett - bad
Bokeem woodbine- bad
Ted Danson- bad

 You can tell that all from the trailer?

312player's unfounded opinions - bad

Huh? I am basing this off several years of bad acting, just like true detective 2 ..I thought the cast was weak..hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, but Martin Freeman was even better as Red in the Shawshank Redemption.

It's only the first episode but it's off to a good start. Meth Damon has become Fat Damon.

Okay then.

With all the Cubs excitement this week I completely forgot to schedule the DVR to record. I have it set now but missed the first episode.
Doesn't appear I can watch it On Demand. Anyone know how I could catch the first one somehow?

Edit: It appears you can watch episodes online from the FX website. I will have to give this a try and maybe watch it on my tablet.

I actually thought it was Matt Damon the first few times I saw the previews.

I wasn't overly impressed with the premiere to be honest, hoping it picks up.

Aren't they replaying it at some point this week or weekend on FX? I thought all the cable shows do that.

I will have to check. I set the DVR to record new and reruns in case they do. I thought maybe they would replay it before this coming weeks episode but I didn't see
that either.

Yup...watched it ... I liked it, love the camera work and drums, like season 1.

Haven't seen enough of Brad Garrett yet..but he looks the part n could pull this off.

Ted Danson? Bad.. Can't even muster up an accent.. Like Rappaport in Justified.. Pathetic.

Kirsten Dunst- not sure yet, accent was weak but her implants looked great.

Season opener was good..I'm in.

Tried watching on my tablet and signed up for it and then the thing wouldn't play. Said it wasn't available. I'll keep working at it.

Agreed.... Gotta say, Dunst surprising me..she's pretty decent acting in this role. The camera work in this show is outstanding, same as the production work.

Finally saw the first episode over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I think the casting is very good and it
opened much stronger than I expected as far as getting the story moving. I'll catch ep 2 tonight before the
Cubs game.

Episode 2 keeps the momentum going. I really like the Mike Milligan character with those two twin brothers, hilarious. Really love what they
have done with this show so far.

Ha I just love his speech patterns. Confuses me at times because I do not expect that guy to talk like that. Especially the previous roles he has had.

This show is great. I can't believe how much suspense you can have in just the 2nd episode of a season like that. The butcher scene was intense even though you are pretty sure that nothing is going to happen there.

And, the roadblock scene was great. I thought there was a legit chance that Danson gets killed right there. Very few shows can setup a world like that where anybody can be killed at any time.

Even The Walking Dead where you think everybody but Rick and Carl can be killed can't make you truly believe that a major character could be killed in the middle of the 2nd episode.

Couldn't agree more. This show is no holds barred and no one is guaranteed the next scene. I was pretty sure that nothing was going to happen in either of the
scenes that you referenced but the knowledge that absolutely anything could happen kept me on the edge of my seat. The dialogue has been razor sharp as well.
Danson's poor accent was referenced earlier but I only find it mildly distracting, everyone else has it down pretty well.
