At Wrigley Field, I want a clip on the scoreboard of The Thing saying "It's clobbering time" when Schwarber comes up to bat.

It sounds like he has cost us one run in game 1 , one run in game 2 behind the plate .. Play him in left ..forget the catching plans.

Seriously, who's he displacing out there? Coughlan and Denorfia?
Play him in left, Bryant has a greater theoretical chance to improve or be adequate at third, sort that shit out in the offseason. I guess the theory is that they are trying to hold the highest perceived value for Schwarber by playing him at catcher, but I don't buy that any other franchise sees him as a catcher. And continuing to play him at catcher will just confirm that he costs teams runs there, so I don't get the gambit.

Montero is good and I just get the feeling that he is the kind of guy who will deliver for us in the big games. Move Schwarber to left and keep both bats in the lineup.

I don't think they are shopping him ..he's a born slugger like abreu .. You can't trade that away .

I'm hoping with the Ross concussion its just a stop gap emergency type thing ..they know he sucks at catcher n he's going to be an emergency 3rd catcher but be everyday L.F.

I saint it at the time they sent him back down.. Dumb...we need bats , he's a top 3 bat in the lineup .these wins matter .

They know he needs work at Catcher. They also know that he really wants to play the position and has a great work ethic. That has led the organization to believe he can make the needed improvements. The guy is a really good athlete. The wins do matter in terms of making the playoffs this season or not. But I don't think they are ready to contend for a championship till next season, unless they acquire another top of the rotation starter. If Schwarber can catch, his value is incredible. A left handed hitting Catcher who hits for average and power.....please!!!

Pitch framing only matters until it doesn't and then it never did.

I think it matters, but I also think that skill can more easily be acquired than finding a great defensive catcher and teaching him to hit exceptionally well might be. His offensive skills mask his deficiencies now. Hopefully, in time he will become a great catcher as well. Again, everyone in the organization says he has an outstanding work ethic, is constantly seeking to learn from Ross in particular, as well as Montero in spring training. He is determined to stay at the position and Madden seems to think he's making great progress very quickly, so I see no reason to believe he can't learn to frame pitches when he's not clobbering the baseball.
