It's a long season and guys are going to have stretches that are great and one's where they struggle. I'm very happy with Bryant and expect him to be a huge cornerstone of this team for many years to come.

As much as I hate to admit this, I agree with Steve.

Let's never speak of this again.

Yikes, me too.

He also had a (broken bat) double and a walk yesterday. Expectations are hurting him, but his performance isn't as bad as it feels. But admittedly, he's had some awful ABs lately and he's swinging and missing too much.

The breaking ball down and away has been the issue. He will adjust and lay off it in time. This season is about experience and growth for the young players. The adjustments they learn to make this season will be key to the success they enjoy in seasons to come. Next season begins true contention, whether they make the playoffs this year (that experience would be beneficial as well) or not.

I have marked this thread.

Hopefully it will get pruned during one of Biggie's pissed off moments.

If he can have the same progression that Aramis had at 3B, I will be very happy. Ramirez was considered a butcher early on, and became more than serviceable defensively.

However, Aramis was never a strikeout machine. Bryant is on pace for 194.

Bryant is doing fine. There are 11 guys hitting .300 in the NL. Only five of them have double digit homers. This is the opposite side of the argument where people insist a guy with a 2.50 ERA who loses all his games is "unlucky".

He was supposed to be the Next Babe Ruth, after Javier Baez was the next Barry Bonds.

"Fine" ain't gonna cut the mustard.

Well, He's arguably a Top 20 hitter in the NL in his first 300 AB. I'd say that's more than fine.

He's not as good with the bat as Schwarber is.

The league will adjust to him but he looks like the type of guy that could hit a baseball in his sleep.

But Bernsie has him and a live child of Ted Williams and babe Ruth. Aramis Ramirez is not gonna cut it.

Bryant can be a "disappointment" and be a really good major leaguer. The Cubs are the ones making the guy out to be Mike Schmidt or Ron Santo early on. Anything below .400 would be a disappointment based on their hype.

He's going to be good. I'm not sure about great yet until he adjusts properly to the league's adjustment to him.

Anyone pushing Schwarber as a better hitter already is a moron. There's no way to tell that.

Suck it! Scouts and fans look at guys all the time and project how good they believe a player will be.

If you tell me now that Bryant will have the career of Troy Glaus (minus a few injuries), I'll take it. Glaus consistenly put up around 35 and 100 every year.

I think Bryant will be very, very good.

Im unsure on Schwarber. I have nothing negative to say about him, just not as strong a feeling as Bryant.

Nothing really. I mean, I think he's a hitter for sure. I've followed Bryant longer so I guess I just feel stronger in that opinion.

They put up pretty much identical numbers in the minors. Numbers that were better than Rizzo. Rizzo took a few years to really get it all together in the majors. I think next season, Bryant will be better than this season. He hasn't figured out how to unlock his power potential yet. If he can figure that out, he will be elite for sure.

I'm not sure who goes through 20 somethings faster: Derek Jeter or Cubs fans.

Show me a young Cubs player, I'll show you a Cubs fan who's tired of waiting for him to be good.

Bryant's following the path other too-tall-for-the-majors hitters have adopted to stick in the majors. Players like Dave Winfield, Joe Mauer, even Tony Clark--favoring getting on base and doubles over swinging for the fences every at-bat.

Nothing to worry about with Bryant. Rozner has him penciled in for 42 homers in his seventh year.
