Lost 4-5 coming out of the All-start break and still firmly secured in last place. Sell....fucking sell.

I lean towards no but MLB teams go stupid over starting pitchers.

Given the value of starting pitching, I can see a team giving him $20M / year. Worth it? not likely, but he could very well get it. There are worse ways to spend money. My beef is on length of contract. He's a solid innings eater, which is a very good thing, but there's no way I give him 5 years...not at $20M per year.

I'd cap the contract at $60M...I don't care on the years, but the shorter the better. If he wants more money, let him get it elsewhere.

...and now the classic 'We made an offer to Jeff and we couldnt come to terms" in the speech when they trade him.

Which, I really dont care, but some how this has become part of the Sox culture, the need to always try and prove they try to keep people.

hey man, i know that deal seems wonky when you're cashing out on the front end, but ask bobby bonilla how nice that little retirement fund is as he collects 1mil/yr from the mets til like 2024 or whatever. i bet right now magglio wouldnt mind getting 1mil/yr for another 5-8 years or whatever it would have amounted to being.
