I Think they are in position to screw up anyone wanting to make a waiver deal after the trade deadline, like they did picking up Rios contract a few years ago.

If they had any infielders in the minors, I'm all for nailing Alexi's ass to the bench.

everyone traded, even if just to save money and start again...but who is going to take them?

Ramirez...I could see someone like the Pirates taking a run out of necessity
Melky...nope, he's here to stay
Beckham...a good team might be able to use him for his defensive versatility as their 25th
Soto...actually having a pretty nice year. I could see this happening
Duke...behind Shark, he may return the most value
Robertson...I don't think he has lost value from where he was last off season, maybe the Cubs should be looking in that direction rather than Papelbon

what I want will never happen. a long term committment to scouting and player development. whatever it takes to have a premier minor league operation. I don't care if the MLB payroll is $50MM, it couldn't be any worse than it has been over the past decade.
